The Renault 4 is back, but without becoming nostalgic. This was already evident in the muscular lines of the 2022 4EVER Trophy show car. The goal was to transform and reinvent the legendary R4. With its retro-futuristic lines and its elegant yet robust look, the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is a contemporary vehicle that incorporates some key features of the original Renault 4 and gives them a modern twist.
The first thing that catches the eye is the grille. It is strongly reminiscent of the original Renault 4, but with its continuously illuminated surround and the Renault logo in the center, it has a unique appeal. The front end, crafted from a single 1.45-meter-long piece, is a world first in the automotive industry, a challenge that the design, engineering, and production departments of Renault and Ampere tackled together. At the rear, the three-part taillights shine with a new brilliance. The design, with its modern lines and distinctive LED signature, is a nod to the capsule shape of the 1960s icon.
The tailgate is larger than it appears. It has been extended all the way into the bumper, allowing for a larger loading opening and a lower loading sill – just like the original Renault 4. The elegant rear side window retains the striking lines of its famous predecessor. The three characteristic stripes integrated into the door panels give the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric's profile a distinctive touch and are reminiscent of the Renault 4 GTL. The roof also retains the characteristic design of the historic model but is additionally equipped with practical roof rails.
