During this short visit to the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, I discovered one of France’s largest modern and contemporary art museums. It opened in 1961 inside an Art Deco building dating from 1937, and its collections now include nearly 15,000 works spanning the 20th century to the contemporary art scene.
One of the highlights of the visit was La Fée Électricité by Raoul Dufy, a monumental work created for the 1937 Universal Exhibition. It is made up of 250 panels measuring 200 x 120 cm and covers a 600 m² U-shaped wall. The museum also describes it as one of the largest paintings in the world.
The collections are really impressive, and the whole visit felt especially memorable thanks to an outdoor performance happening that day, which made the atmosphere even more special.
