00:00Mr. President, dear friends, colleagues, ladies, gentlemen, presidents from all over the world, dear president, we have the world united
00:15here today, the presidents of all the countries of the world, of course of football or soccer in the world,
00:22but we know that this is the most important thing in the world, so the most important people in the
00:27world are here today.
00:30The legends of our game are here, those who made our hearts beat, who made the hearts of billions of
00:38people in the world beat, and of course the FIFA council as well.
00:45We are all here, united tonight, president, to celebrate this incredible FIFA World Cup.
00:56When we met the first time, Mr. President, in 2018, in the summer, after the award of the decision, I
01:06promised you we would make a great World Cup.
01:08And by all means, this World Cup has exceeded all expectations.
01:23Full stadiums, seven million people in the stadium, tens of millions in the cities, in America, in Canada, in Mexico,
01:34billions in front of their TV.
01:40Everyone enjoying the game with happiness, with happiness, with joy, with peace, and the American dream, Mr. President, came to
01:51reality.
01:53We united the world, we united the world, we united the world in America.
02:00When I told you we will do a great World Cup, you told me America will welcome the world, and
02:06you did welcome the world.
02:08Everyone that came here, everyone that came here, everyone that stayed home, enjoyed it as well, by watching the incredible
02:16images of these beautiful host cities of the fans from all over the world,
02:23coming together and enjoying in peace, Mr. President, in happiness, and in joy, because, I don't know if you know,
02:34but the official definition of FIFA is, we are, FIFA is the official happiness provider to humanity, since 120 years.
02:46So we are providing joy and happiness.
02:50Unless the team loses, of course.
02:53And all this, of course, would not have been possible.
02:59And I say this, because it is the truth.
03:04You don't need people to compliment you, Mr. President, but this World Cup would not have been such an incredible
03:12success without you.
03:16Please.
03:19Your administration, every single person in the White House, in the administration, in the cities,
03:29in the states, everywhere, contributed to create this safe and secure and joyful environment to live something that the world
03:43has never seen.
03:44This has not just been, and it's not just, the greatest World Cup of all times.
03:48It is the greatest human, social and cultural event that mankind has ever witnessed and seen,
03:58and we are all part of it.
04:01And for this, I thank you very much, Mr. President.
04:05Thanks for having us here.
04:06There is one more game to go.
04:08Well, two more games.
04:10The bronze medal tomorrow, and between England and France, of course.
04:15And the great final between Argentina and Spain.
04:21One country will be the world champion, but the world has already won.
04:28America has won.
04:30FIFA has won.
04:31And uniting the world in such a way as we did this summer, giving unforgettable experiences and memories to millions,
04:40to billions of people all over the world,
04:42is something that we will take with us.
04:45Thank you.
04:51So, I want to thank Johnny, this guy.
04:54He came to me with this crazy idea.
04:56I said, are you crazy?
04:58We're not a soccer country.
05:01It turned out we were a soccer country.
05:03And I think it's going to remain.
05:05But what he's done and what he thought of with a lot of your friends that I met today,
05:10they were very much involved in the decision.
05:13But I want to thank our great FIFA president, Johnny Infantino.
05:19There's nobody like him, actually.
05:20Very few.
05:21And the entire team at FIFA for their incredible work.
05:25I've met so many of them.
05:26I see why you were so successful.
05:28Because of the commitment and devotion of the people in this room,
05:32this beautiful room where the sound is very good,
05:34because you're going to hear a great opera singer in a couple of minutes.
05:37That's why I say, you know, Pavarotti was here.
05:40I was saying, years ago he was here, and he sang right in that corner.
05:44And he said to me something I never forgot, because it's luck.
05:47Sound is luck.
05:49Like talent, you're born with it.
05:50Sound is a little luck.
05:51He said, this is the greatest space.
05:55And he came and recorded either an album or a song.
05:59And we're going to hear somebody.
06:00You're going to hear somebody in a couple of minutes that's really good.
06:03But I did say to him, Christopher, are you as good as...
06:07He's an Italian man also.
06:09I don't know.
06:10It seems that being Italian is a big advantage in that business, right?
06:13If his name was Christopher Smith, it wouldn't work out as well.

06:21He was the maestro.
06:23He was the greatest of all time.
06:25Who is nobody like?
06:26When you hear him, you'll understand.
06:27He's just as good.
06:29Now, I would have said, no, no, I'm better than Pavarotti if I were him.
06:33And therefore, I'm doing this instead of that.
06:37But you're going to hear somebody who's fantastic, really an acknowledged genius.
06:42But this has been the most successful sporting event, maybe in the history of the world.
06:47It's been amazing.
06:48So I want to congratulate everybody in this room because you're very much into football.

06:53It gets a little confusing here because we have the great Bob Craft.
06:56He's won six Super Bowls.

07:11And he also owns a soccer team, which is good, but hasn't been quite as good as the football.

07:24It's been my friend for a long time.
07:26But eight years ago, all the way back in 2018, it was my honor to help secure the World Cup
07:32for North America
07:34and never thinking that it would turn out to be what it turned out to be.
07:37And Johnny said this would happen.
07:39But as fate would have it, I'm president.
07:42I said, you know, I was supposed to not be here right now.
07:45I was supposed to be president for eight years.
07:47The polls showed it.
07:48Everyone showed it.
07:49They rigged the election.
07:50And what did I get?
07:51I got the World Cup.
07:53I got the Olympics.
07:55And I brought them here.
07:56I tried to take credit for 250 years, but that didn't work out as well.
08:01I tried to say I created 250 years.
08:03That one didn't work.
08:04But I did get the Olympics.
08:05And we got this.
08:07And I don't know.
08:07This might be bigger than the Olympics.

08:18But Gianni, I want to thank FIFA Secretary General Matthias Grafstrom, as well as FIFA vice presidents
08:28and all of those vice presidents and council members, along with the presidents and general
08:32secretaries of FIFA member associations, along with some presidents of their countries.
08:38Of course, being a president of your country at this particular time isn't really as good
08:43as being the president of one of your associations.
08:46But you've done an amazing job.
08:48In fact, the presidents of the countries are sitting in the back row.
08:51You believe this?
08:52They're going to be very upset with you.
08:54But we also have many famous FIFA legends and all-star players, people that I recognize
09:00being somebody that knows something about sports.
09:03I have my children love soccer.
09:05My one son, my very tall son, Baron loves soccer.
09:10He's a good soccer player.
09:11He may, I don't know, his speed might, I'm a little, he's very tall.
09:15I don't know.
09:15I said, when some guy gets by you from Spain, from Argentina, from France, Baron, what happens?
09:23From England, what happens, Baron?
09:26He said, Dad, I'm a very good ball handler.
09:29I said, but Baron, if he's faster, what do you do about it?
09:33Dad, he'll never get by me.
09:35I said, but when he does?
09:37And he didn't want to answer that question.
09:40So speed, I think, is quite important in this sport.
09:42Do you agree?
09:43Oh, yes.
09:43But he has good skills, actually.
09:45But he helped, Johnny helped shape the game.
09:48You all helped shape the game.
09:49And really bringing it to a level that I don't think I've ever seen before.
09:54Melania's father, Victor, is sitting right here.
09:56And he's been a wonderful father-in-law, a great guy.
10:00And he said he used to play soccer as a young man.
10:03He didn't quite make it into the big leagues, but he's a good athlete.

10:37between the two amazing teams, Spain and Argentina.

10:44I'm not knowing as much as the people in this room, but I know about sports and I know a

10:49bit about soccer.
10:49But I watched Messi and he was well-guarded, right?
10:53Well-guarded.
10:54And all of a sudden, he's standing on the right.
10:56Do you understand what I'm talking about?
10:58I don't know if anybody didn't.
10:59I just noticed it.
11:01Nobody talked about it.
11:02I just noticed it.
11:03I said, he's so well-guarded by a great player.
11:06And then he moved to the right and the other player was just standing there.
11:11And he had plenty of time.
11:13He kicked it.
11:14It was within, I would say, a quarter of an inch of being perfect.
11:17And that was the end of the game.
11:19It was brilliant.
11:20And these great players, they seem to do that over and over again.
11:26They're just born with something extra special.
11:30I know that Ronaldo is one of them.
11:32I got to know him over the years and he's a great guy.
11:36You have a great player in England who I played golf with.
11:39You know that, right?
11:40And he is Harry, who's been fantastic.
11:43I think they perhaps made a mistake when they made him a defensive player.
11:47What do I know about soccer?
11:48Look, they took the league and they took their best player and then put him on defense.
11:54Then somehow, no, we got to be a little offensive, right?
11:59But no, I'm not going to call it.
12:01Look, what do I know about coaching?
12:03But that was a little unusual.
12:05But Harry is a great guy, actually.
12:07But we're gathered tonight in New York City as we await the final faceoff on Sunday between
12:12these two amazing teams.
12:14And it's going to be something, I think, really special.
12:17This has been a tournament like no other, filled with fierce competition, unforgettable moments.
12:23You had unforgettable moments, like probably the most unforgettable is when they gave that
12:29gentleman.
12:29Is it a red card?
12:31And I was forced to call Johnny and just make a recommendation.
12:35I said, Johnny, I'd like to make a recommendation.
12:38Let the guy in the game.
12:39No, I didn't say that.
12:40I said, I'd like to wage a complaint.
12:45And actually, I didn't, I had no idea what was going to happen.
12:48But, you know, it's so much better the way it worked out because there's no controversy.
12:54They won the game and our team had all of its players.
12:57You made another great decision, if you think about it.
13:00I know you'll never get credit.
13:01You'll never get credit.
13:02Think of it, if he didn't allow him and they would say, we would have won the game if we
13:09had our best players.
13:10So Johnny made yet another of his many good decisions.
13:13But the spirit and patriotism and the unity that's brought, I think, the whole world together.
13:18This has really brought the world together.
13:21The 2026 FIFA World Cup has broken almost every record imaginable.
13:25This is the largest World Cup in history by far, by many times, actually, welcoming 16 additional
13:31teams.
13:32And I understand you may be making it even larger next time.
13:36I suggested that this has been so successful that, you know, I'm really working these people
13:43hard because they really call the shot.
13:44They tell Johnny exactly what to do.
13:46I say, what we should do is you should choose the United States of America again.
13:53This time, we'll leave Mexico and Canada out.
13:56But then what you do is you, which I was very nice to get them in.
14:00But what we do is you leave, you choose us, but you pick somebody else for the next one.
14:05And that will take some of the anger, hatred and steam out of everyone.
14:10But Johnny also had another idea.
14:12He said we could do it.
14:15China and the United States for next time.
14:17We do them China, United States.
14:19So you have a nice short flight in between games.
14:22You know, the players would love that.
14:24But it is the world's largest.
14:27And it's like having, you know, I first heard this, but many Super Bowls at one time.
14:32You know, it's like having many Super Bowls.
14:34Bob, every stadium is packed to the rafters, the spirit.
14:38But fans from 200 countries attended 104 games spread across 16 northern American cities.
14:44And I saw things happen.
14:46My mother comes from Scotland.
14:48My father comes from Germany.
14:50When I saw the Scottish bagpipes and the Scottish, they were going wild.
14:55They were going, I said, this is really different.
14:58And, you know, a lot of countries came here not knowing what to think.
15:01And they love the United States.
15:02In fact, the people that came, they're going to be coming back.
15:05Maybe permanently, I don't know.
15:07They love the United States.
15:08We're doing great.
15:09We're doing great.
15:10It's the golden age of America.
15:12We're doing better than we've ever done.
15:13We have $19.2 trillion being invested.
15:17Much more than any country has ever had.
15:19Invested into our country.
15:21Factories being built all across the land.
15:23But I'm proud to report that with more than 6.5 million attendees, this has been by far the most
15:29attended tournament in history.
15:32And that's the history of all sports.
15:34And that's only going to go, well, maybe up.
15:36I don't know where you're going next time.
15:37Where are you going next time?
15:38Are you allowed to tell me?
15:39I'll let you know if you're going to do better.
15:41But that's a tough number to beat, right?
15:44That's why he's, you know, what he wants to do.
15:45He's very competitive.
15:46That's why he's going to add some more teams.
15:47He figures by adding some more teams, maybe they can tap it.
15:51But the total number of spectators exceeds the entire attendance of the last two World Cups combined.
15:58And together, we pulled it off really flawlessly.
16:00I mean, I don't want to say this because you do have two more games.
16:04And so let's not talk about it yet.
16:06I don't want to say how great it's been.
16:08And we've had absolute spirit, absolute, I have to say, the law enforcement, they're fantastic.
16:15But they didn't have to work too hard because the spirit was so good.
16:18There were no fights.
16:19There were no anything.
16:20So I just want to say great.
16:21But let's save it for Sunday evening.
16:24I think we'll hold it out for Sunday evening.
16:26But it's going to go well.
16:27By the time the final whistle sounds on Sunday, nearly six billion viewers will have watched this World Cup.
16:34That's a record by many, many times over.
16:36I have no doubt that the World Cup has won millions of new fans and a lot of new fans
16:41in this country, which traditionally hasn't been a soccer country.
16:45But it's got it's getting there even before this.
16:48It's been going up and this will have a big impact, I'm sure.
16:51From the first day of my administration, 2025, we've worked closely with FIFA to make this event a resounding success.

17:03We really you really worked hard.

17:08To put our preparations into perspective and the record setting tournament has been the logistical equivalent of holding 78 NFL
17:17Super Bowls in less than two months time.
17:20Seventy eight.
17:21We marshaled the resources and more than 50 federal departments and agencies deployed every arm of the federal law enforcement
17:28to ensure the games would be safe, secure and successful.
17:31And they've turned out to be amazing.
17:34The State Department expedited thousands and thousands of visas for World Cup ticket holders very quick, very, we call it
17:42fast, fast letting them in.
17:45We call it let them in fast.
17:46And we secured and Marco was fantastic.
17:49Marco Rubio, fantastic.
17:51And the job he's done, Secretary of State.
17:53And we secured more than one point two billion dollars in funding to support transit operations and security for the
18:00games.
18:00One point two.
18:01And he wanted more.
18:02I said, can we just relax for a little while, Johnny?
18:05One point two billion to transport people.
18:07Isn't that nice?
18:08But I want to thank the White House FIFA task force.
18:11They've been really fantastic.
18:13And again, Andrew, Giuliani did a fantastic job.
18:17Thank you very much.
18:18Hosting guests from all over the globe for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was also an incredibly special way to
18:24help kick off America 250 years of freedom.
18:29We have tens of thousands of people from around the world that got to join us.
18:34We had a fantastic July 4th weekend like I think we've never had before.
18:38And it was only enhanced by having you here by I don't know if you did that on purpose.
18:44I don't think so.
18:44But it was it worked out fantastically.
18:46We had we had an amazing crowd.
18:49450,000 people showed up to to celebrate our country on a very rainy evening.
18:56And because of lightning, everybody was forced to leave.
18:58And then I said, we're going to do it anyway, even if I have to speak at two o'clock
19:01in the morning.
19:02We called everybody back.
19:04And 150,000 people came back.
19:06They were on their way back to Texas and Oklahoma.
19:09And we had 150,000 people standing in the rain late in the evening.
19:14Somebody suggested, let's do it on a different day, maybe in a week or two.
19:16I said, no, it doesn't work in a week or two.
19:18It worked on the 250, 250th year from the Scotland fans who took over the streets of
19:27Boston last month to the Argentinian supporters who cheered on Messi.
19:33How good is Messi?
19:34The hat trick in Kansas City had the hat trick, something very rare, I guess.
19:39And that's pretty rare, isn't it?
19:41To our first ally, France, winning in Philadelphia on July 4th.
19:47What a game.
19:48They would seem to be, I mean, it's life and sports, but they seem to be unbeatable.
19:53And then they didn't beat Spain.
19:56It was, they were the team that was favorite.
19:58They were the team that was winning, I think, probably the most easily.
20:01And then they, something happens.
20:03It can happen in life.
20:05It's sports.
20:05It can happen in life, too.
20:07You're hot as a pistol and then you're not so hot.
20:08But I wouldn't know about a thing like that.
20:11No, it happens in life.
20:13You're hot and then you're not.
20:14But you have to always make a comeback, right?
20:16You can never give up.
20:17But it's been a true honor for Americans to share our magnificent country with the world
20:22and today, America.
20:24It's stronger and wealthier and hotter than ever before.
20:27And you're a big part of it.
20:29Once again, I want to thank Johnny and the incredible people of FIFA.

20:37And I want to congratulate every team that made the 2026 World Cup one of the all-time
