00:00If you think China is living in the future,
00:02guess again!
00:06Welcome to China Uncensored, I'm Chris Chappell.
00:08Be sure to leave a honeypot emoji in the comments below for the algorithm,
00:12and check back every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for new episodes,
00:16because YouTube probably won't notify you.
00:18So if you spend any amount of time on the internet,
00:21you've gotten the message that China is the future.
00:24A high-tech society with glittery skyscrapers
00:27and futuristic high-speed rails.
00:30An orderly society with no crime.
00:33And absolutely no genocide in Xinjiang.
00:36Nope, not at all.
00:37There's a reason you're seeing this stuff.
00:39China literally has a fake network of bots pushing pro-China propaganda.
00:45The most futuristic thing about China is that it has robots lying about how futuristic it is.
00:51It creates a narrative, a fake vision of China that's hard to counter
00:54because the real China is cut off from the rest of the world by the Great Firewall of China.
01:01But that is no longer the case.
01:04India is devastating China with a secret weapon.
01:09Just show what China actually looks like.
01:13Like vampires and the Irish.
01:15Nothing destroys them faster than exposing them to sunlight.
01:18Indian netizens are penetrating the Great Firewall,
01:22to show what life is really like in China.
01:26And it makes Skid Row look like Napa Valley.
01:29You see, India and China have not had the most amicable of relationships.
01:34The two countries actually went to war over a border dispute in 1962.
01:39And conflict still flares up there.
01:41But the tensions between China and India goes well beyond a border dispute.
01:46The Chinese Communist Party claims that a country with over a billion people
01:50cannot be run in a liberal democratic way.
01:55Let me guess, they should instead be run by this guy?
01:57He's obviously doing a great job.
02:00Except, India has over a billion people,
02:03and it's a liberal democracy.
02:05And because of its size and freedom,
02:07India could one day replace China as the world's manufacturer.
02:12India is a huge threat to the CCP's iron rule.
02:15And so China has turned its bot army on India,
02:19to portray it as poverty-stricken, dirty, disgusting.
02:25China could actually be a utopia if they spent half as much time on infrastructure
02:30as they did raising a troll robot army.
02:33But Indians have had enough,
02:35and decided to break through the firewall to show what China is really like.
02:40And it turns out, every accusation is a confession.
02:44India is so dirty!
02:46Oh wait, it's China?
02:49Yes, it turns out when you get past the propaganda videos of glittery skylines,
02:53China too is rife with poverty and trash.
02:57Indian commentators are sharing videos of extreme poverty
03:01and social strife in China.
03:04And a pretty big garbage problem that makes New York City look like Napa Valley.
03:09They also point out that China has one of the largest wealth gaps in the world.
03:13With many people forced to live on the streets.
03:17Or in incredibly cramped quarters.
03:20The videos they're finding are insane.
03:23If only the CCP could be tossed out as easily as the rest of the trash in China.
03:27And they're taking aim at some of China's biggest propaganda talking points.
03:32Like the quality of China's rails.
03:34High-speed rail?
03:36More like high-speed fail?
03:39I'd call it a train wreck, but that's too on the nose.
03:42There's also video of some interesting culinary choices.
03:47I won't show you the picture of a guy eating a literal baby.
03:51That's the kind of psychic damage I take making this show that I'll spare you from.
03:56Apparently he read a modest proposal and saw it less as satire and more as a recipe.
04:01They're also getting AI in on the job.
04:04Someone made a GTA 6 India version.
04:07So of course there's a GTA 6 China version.
04:10Which we of course got before the actual GTA 6.
04:14The use of AI means not all of these videos are real.
04:17Some videos are fake.
04:19Like this one.
04:20I've never seen AI slop be so actually sloppy.
04:23And this video isn't actually even of China.
04:26But you can see how this kind of tit-for-tat narrative warfare
04:29between China and India is going full force.
04:32What you need to understand, though,
04:34is that this is more than just a spat between two regional powers
04:37throwing shade on each other.
04:39The Chinese Communist Party is actively trying to portray itself
04:42as the inevitable world superpower,
04:45with a system that surpasses any other.
04:49Behold China's utopia!
04:51Just showing what China really is like
04:54is a brilliant strategy we can all use.
04:58One of the CCP's favorite talking points is that
05:00it has lifted 800 million people out of poverty.
05:04While conveniently leaving out the fact that they
05:06tossed them right back into it like a catch-and-release fisherman.
05:09This line has been so successful,
05:11it gets repeated verbatim by the World Bank.
05:14And even by influential Westerners like the former deputy mayor of London.
05:20China has lifted 728 million people out of poverty by international standards.
05:27I was really deeply moved.
05:29You might even hear my voice slightly waver.
05:32Yes, my voice also wavers when I'm desperately trying to keep a straight face while lying through my teeth.
05:38And as more and more young Americans view socialism,
05:41and even communism more favorably than capitalism,
05:45they become susceptible to Chinese propaganda,
05:47like my favorite Chinese state-run media, the Global Times,
05:50saying that China's socialist model outperforms capitalism.
05:55But you want to know how China lifted people out of poverty?
05:59They set the threshold for extreme poverty lower,
06:03at $1.69 a day compared to the World Bank's global threshold of $1.90 a day.
06:11Which means all those people living on $1.70 a day,
06:15not in extreme poverty, already lifted out of it.
06:18Hurrah for the CCP!
06:20That's a lot of people.
06:22In 2020, former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang revealed that 600 million people,
06:26about 43% of China's population earned less than $145 a month.
06:33So saying that's lifting people out of poverty is like saying you saved someone from drowning
06:38by making sure only their scalp was above water.
06:42China's youth unemployment is astronomical.
06:45So when Indianisms go online and just show you what China looks like,
06:50they are knocking down the entire legitimacy of the Chinese Communist Party,
06:55which is built on a house of cards more precarious than, well,
07:00any other building built by China.
07:02The only reason I can show you what life under communism is really like
07:06is thanks to the support of the China Uncensored 50 Cent Army.
07:09Those are the fans who support the show on my exclusive website,
07:13ChinaUncensored.tv.
07:14Without them, I'd go broke.
07:16If I had to live off YouTube ad revenue,
07:18I'd only be making $900 a month after paying my staff.
07:23So better than a Chinese peasant.
07:24But as a thank you, I'll answer one of my 50 Cent Army members' questions.
07:30Eric H. asks,
07:31Nice you have been able to show footage of protests in China.
07:34How does it usually get out?
07:36That's a great question, Eric.
07:38Recently, I made several videos showing protests in Wuhan and Hefei.
07:42And today's episode was all about how Indian netizens are getting footage out
07:45from beyond the Great Firewall.
07:47Chinese censors are quick.
07:50And they're getting quicker with the use of AI.
07:52But there are so many Chinese people with phones and internet access now
07:56filming things and uploading them to the Chinese internet.
07:59Because no one hates the CCP more than the people who are ruled by the CCP.
08:04It's still cut off from the global internet and is doomed to be deleted.
08:08But that still takes the censors time.
08:10And so a bunch of dedicated people have made it their mission
08:13to scour the Chinese internet collecting these videos before they get taken down.
08:19Sites like China Digital Times,
08:21What's on Weibo.com,
08:23or this account on X called Teacher Li.
08:26These are great sources.
08:28But still, only a fraction makes it out to the other side of the firewall.
08:32The CCP is obsessed with its image of a beautiful utopia,
08:37and will fight tooth and nail to protect it while hiding the uglier and uglier truth away
08:43like a picture of Dorian Gray in an attic of the internet.
08:47Which is why I'm glad to have the China Uncensored 50 cent army at my back.
08:51If you want to join, head over to ChinaUncensored.tv

09:02Amen.
