00:13But yeah, for the WWE, there has been some frustration that maybe what's old is new again, but it feels
00:20old.
00:21And while I don't necessarily disagree, I do think what we saw on Monday is an example of why you
00:27go
00:28with some of the vets that they have gone with.
00:30Let me explain as we break things down here on some wrestling talk.
00:46So, frustration as you can expect.
00:49When Roman Reigns just had a really long title run and now he's back on top and we're doing the
00:53bloodline thing all over again
00:54and it's just like the last few years didn't happen.
00:56And so I can get the frustration, but I think Monday shows why you do that.
01:01That promo segment with him and Seth Rollins, I only think there are a few guys who get to that
01:08level.
01:09Like, it wasn't the greatest promo of all time or anything like that, but it was so solid and got
01:13me so fired up
01:14for the main event for SummerSlam.
01:17And I just, the seriousness that they approached it with, the realism that was brought into a relatively unreal world,
01:25and being able to tie it all in, again with the seriousness and everything, getting the reactions, playing to the
01:30crowd,
01:31all of that, there's only a few guys currently active who can do that.
01:37And you can see, like, there are good promos in WWE right now.
01:40And there are some young kids who are great at him, right?
01:42Like Trick Williams, I've said it before, dude's a star.
01:45Like, just oozes charisma, aura, whatever you want to say, he has it and he has it overflowing.
01:50And he is going to be in this spot one day.
01:54He's very, very good at it.
01:55But there's only a couple.
01:56Like, I'm not the biggest fan of Seth Rollins' promos, and I kind of think he was just along for
02:00the ride with this.
02:02But, like, Punk can get there.
02:03I think McIntyre can get there.
02:04Cody, it can be a lot sometimes, but he can get there.
02:07But there's only a few.
02:08And Roman did kind of, I think, the typical talk him into the building thing on Raw.
02:14Like, the thing that I really like, and we're seeing a little bit more of it,
02:17I think it's a little easier at times to just, like, oh, well, this real-life thing,
02:22and, oh, they held me down with the creative and all the stuff.
02:25Like, trying to make it real and, like, throw real-life stuff out there.
02:29I think that, like, that has its place, and it's fun, and all of that.
02:34But what I love about this feud, and we've seen it a little bit more in some other ones,
02:38with Roman specifically, they are talking about things that have happened in the wrestling context
02:43and getting the ooh, ah, and treating those like they are real.
02:47And that's just the thing I like, that's what I prefer in my wrestling,
02:51is I don't need to be like, oh, and then, like, with the Triple H stuff,
02:54and, oh, you married the boss's daughter, and got this push,
02:56and everyone keeps cutting me down, and da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
02:59I like that you are treating the stuff that I have watched
03:02as things that have real-life consequences,
03:05and can be brought up in real-life promos to really make fun of this guy.
03:09And so the, you'll always be number two.
03:12You're gonna get hurt if you win this title in a couple of months anyway,
03:15and you're just gonna go back to being behind me, and all of that.
03:17They threw in some real-life with, like, hey, your boy Triple H is running things back there,
03:21and you still can only get to this spot.
03:23Like, they did throw some of that in, but just the seriousness,
03:28the professionalism, and the realism that they brought to all of this,
03:32I just, I think it was perfect.
03:33I think they did such a good job with that,
03:35and that's why you put these guys in the spots.
03:37I would like to see, this was not the main event I wanted.
03:40Roman against Seth Rollins, not where I wanted this to go.
03:45But, they got me excited about it, and I just, I hope that Seth doesn't win,
03:49because I'm not the biggest Seth guy.
03:50But I think now when Fatou takes this off of Roman, or whatever,
03:54it's gonna have that much more of an impact.
03:55I had said going into Raw, I don't know what they're going to do with Oba,
03:59and with Brock, because it felt like they had done everything already.
04:02I think what they did was good, like that no-touch, the restraining order thing, that's fine.
04:05Oba chokeslamming police officers and security guards, that, like that.
04:09All of that worked.
04:10Um, calling Oba a dummy, and everything there.
04:13Like, just kind of driving home some of that stuff.
04:15So, it wasn't, they didn't rewrite everything, that it wasn't this,
04:18oh my gosh, well now this has gone to another level.
04:20But just to keep the seriousness of it, and to keep the intensity of it,
04:24I think they did a pretty good job there.
04:26The one that you're kind of on the fence with,
04:28is, um, the Maxine Dupree Vision Alpha Academy thing.
04:33It was pretty obvious where it was going,
04:35and, uh, still, I think they did a good job with it.
04:38And I like at least trying to add this depth to Maxine,
04:41because that character wasn't great.
04:43Like, there was, there was a little bit of an underdog thing there for a second,
04:45but now, like, no one was going, there wasn't staying power with it.
04:49There's staying power with this, right?
04:50Like, you have a fanbase that's already behind,
04:54or, uh, negatively behind Austin Theory,
04:57and Logan Paul and The Vision,
04:58for a number of different reasons.
05:00And now, you put in Maxine,
05:02who some people don't feel like she has the in-ring ability to be at this level anyway.
05:06So you can capitalize on fans' real-life frustration with those characters,
05:11while also being able to build a wrestling story out of it.
05:14So, I think they did a good job with it.
05:15I think Maxine being able to be, um,
05:19a little bit more on the bad side,
05:20I think this is going to help.
05:21I think it's going to help Austin Theory,
05:23who I still think is a bit of a charisma black hole,
05:26where, like, just,
05:27he has, he has all the things you would want out of a wrestler,
05:30like, he is a relatively attractive human being,
05:32um, he has kept himself in very good shape,
05:34and what he does in the ring is really good,
05:36but it's, it's one of those things you hear on wrestling podcasts all the time,
05:39and I'm not doubting his passion for it,
05:41but it feels like he is playing wrestler, right?
05:43Like, he is just,
05:44there are some guys where they try to get to,
05:47where it's like, okay, I know the rest of this is fake,
05:48but that guy's different.
05:49That, that feels real to me.
05:52He's almost the opposite,
05:53where it's like, okay, like, I'm kind of buying into this,
05:55Obafemi, I think, could genuinely kick my ass in any scenario,
05:58and all of that.
06:00I know that's fake.
06:01Like, not that Austin Theory couldn't also kick my ass,
06:03but I just, you see him out there,
06:05it's, it's one of those things,
06:07it just kind of takes you out of it,
06:08just, the, there's something about it
06:10that's just not clicking with this guy.
06:12But, attached to another relatively attractive human being
06:16in a group I don't like,
06:17now we're starting to get somewhere,
06:19and starting to, to kind of mask some of the things
06:21that aren't as good about him.
06:23So, I think there's legs, I think there's some potential with this,
06:26and I, I at least like that they are trying this,
06:28and like where they are going with this one.
06:30We haven't seen something like this in a little bit,
06:32with a not real life,
06:35I guess pairing, or couple,
06:37that's the word,
06:38to, to go forward with it.
06:39So, I, overall, like, I thought it was a good show.
06:41Like, Io and Roxy put on a fantastic match,
06:44as you would assume,
06:45and advance a couple of stories with that.
06:47Raquel going after the Intercontinental title,
06:49I think that's an interesting matchup
06:50with her and Sol Ruka.
06:51So, yeah, a fine show
06:53for Monday Night Raw this past week.
