00:08My film We Are Skateboarders is actually the second highest viewed skateboarding
00:13documentary right under Dogtown and the Z-Boys.
00:28It was definitely not a commercial success.
00:33I'll go all over the place back and forth here and there about like how I fucked up.
00:37But you're too young man you can't you can't even like you can't see the big picture.
00:45You'll hear it in therapy or the realm of mental health or trying to reframe things just like
00:49well how do you define success and like I have to take into consideration the fact that
00:54I did have undiagnosed bipolar disorder and just in a constant state of manic depression.
01:01Cool so we're here to talk a little bit about your new film We Are Skateboarders.
01:05I just kind of came out here from New York and met Kurt Stevenson the publisher of PowerEdge Magazine
01:09and it kind of like gave me that ability to be like hey it's Ben from PowerEdge Magazine.
01:13Once I got the sponsorship from PowerEdge Magazine as far as skateboarding goes and the skateboarding industry
01:19I had no problems getting any interview I wanted from any professional skateboarder.
01:27Woo!
01:28Woo!
01:33Woo!
01:39I'm living with undiadnosed bipolar disorder and I'm suffering.
01:44And when you have undiadnosed bipolar disorder and you have nobody with any professional expertise
01:48to tell you what is actually happening to you...
01:51It's absolutely dramatizing you're not telling anybody about it.
01:59I was in therapy and I was like, Jack, like, I can't keep harboring this, you know, like, I've been
02:05harboring this for 15 years, I've been blocking this out for 15 years, like, only from when I took that
02:10giant leap of faith in therapy, 16 years later, it's actually been kind of the start of it all.
