00:00And turning back to the Persian Gulf, what is the status of the Strait of Hormuz right now?
00:05Iran has warned that if oil tankers and other shipping don't use what Iran calls approved routes,
00:12then they could be a forceful response.
00:15So what is the status right now? Is it fully reopened?
00:19It is not fully reopened, although a larger number of ships and tankers are going through than before.
00:30But what the Americans are doing in the Strait is a violation of the MOU.
00:35And the Iranians have been warning the United States about this.
00:41Because in accordance with the MOU, during the period in which the MOU is valid, the Iranians manage the Strait.
00:50And what the Americans have done is that they've tried to open up a separate corridor where the Iranians have
00:58no control.
00:59And they're trying to force ships to use that corridor.
01:06This is going to be a problem.
01:08And again, since the Americans are not abiding by their side of the bargain,
01:13that is only going to lead to the Iranians not fulfilling their side of the bargain.
01:18And Iran has a lot of leverage when it comes to the Strait of Hormuz, but also with regards to
01:26its nuclear program.
01:28Is it the Iranian goal that the Americans need to recognize the sovereignty of Iran over the entire strait?
01:37I don't think the Iranians particularly care if the Americans recognize anything or not.
