Israel will hold national elections on 27 October, the last date allowed by law to hold national elections. The Knesset is set to end its current term on 17 July.

00:07in a vote that is widely seen as a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
00:13Israel's parliament, which is known as the Knesset, will complete its term on 17 July,
00:18allowing the country's ruling coalition to complete its four-year term for the first time in decades.
00:23It is the first national vote since the start of Israel's war in Gaza in 2023 and against Hezbollah in

00:31as well as its war on Iran in collaboration with the U.S. earlier this year.
00:36Netanyahu is the country's longest-serving Prime Minister.
00:39He has served multiple times during non-consecutive terms and has declared his intention to run again.
00:45His government is one of the most right-wing coalitions in Israel's history,
00:49but polls show many are unhappy with Netanyahu, mainly over how he handled the Iran war.
