00:32Emmy nominations with 25 votes. Vice President Sara Duterte's Chief of Staff, Zulayka Lopez,
00:45makes a surprise appearance at the Senate. This comes a day after the Senate impeachment court
00:50said it would subpoena her for Duterte's impeachment trial next week. But Lopez avoids reporters'
00:55questions about her possible appearance before the court as she heads to the Senate elevator to
01:00meet with Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. Bantug says the meeting with Lopez was more about
01:05administrative matters and nothing about the case. Lopez continues to evade questions as she exits the
01:10building but delivers one line, Good morning everyone, prepare for Typhoon Inday. This refers
01:15to Typhoon Inday which is expected to trigger rain in parts of the country beginning that day but also
01:20an indirect reference to the Vice President who is known as Inday Sara. House Prosecution
01:25Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega responds,
01:32The Supreme Court junks petitions challenging the legality of the No Contact Apprehension Policy or
01:38NCAP in Metro Manila. The NCAP allows the MMDA and LGUs to spot traffic violators even remotely.
01:45It also seeks to ease traffic and reduce corruption by using digital cameras instead of traditional traffic
01:50enforcers. In a decision penned by Associate Justice Rodil Salameda, the SC rules Thursday, July 9,
01:56the issues raised have become moot because of the adoption of a new and uniform traffic enforcement
02:00framework under the Metro Manila Traffic Code of 2023. The High Court adds the petitions filed by
02:06the Kilusanang Pagbabago ng Industria ng Transportasyon and others were, quote, dismissed for lack of standing,
02:11violation of exhaustion of administrative remedies and hierarchy of courts, and forum shopping. The
02:16petitions cover MMDA's NCAP implementation in Manila, Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Quezon City, and Valenzuela.
02:22But the SC also explains this dismissal does not prevent future petitions that will challenge the
02:28NCAP in case an actual controversy will arise later on. Another division of the anti-graft court
02:35Sandigan Bayan orders the arrest of Senator Rodante Marcoleta and former Congressman Mike Defensor,
02:40this for the bailable offense of receiving gifts as public officials. The Sandigan Bayan 4th Division
02:45issued the warrants of arrests and whole departure orders against Marcoleta and Defensor on Wednesday,
02:50July 8th. The bail is set at P30,000. The Sandigan Bayan 3rd Division had already issued
02:56the arrest warrants against Marcoleta, Defensor, and two more co-accused for their non-bailable
03:00plunder case. Defensor is already detained at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory along with two more
03:06co-accused. Meantime, Marcoleta remains in the custody of the Philippine National Police
03:10Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for medical examinations.
03:16The U.S. launches fresh strikes on Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open to shipping,
03:20triggering Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain in the latest escalation to derail efforts to end
03:25the war. The U.S. says their latest round of attacks are in response to Tuesday's assault on
03:29three cargo ships passing the Strait. This comes hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said he
03:35believed an interim ceasefire with Iran would be over. The U.S. strikes rattle several cities along
03:40Iran's southern coast and leave some areas without power. Iran responds with the second day of attacks
03:45on Kuwait and Bahrain, both home to U.S. military bases. Kuwait's Defense Ministry says it was
03:50intercepting missiles and drones, but Qatar briefly issued an elevated security threat alert before
03:55later giving the all clear. Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bakir Khalibaf, says the U.S. has yet to
04:01learn that bullying and breaking its commitments no longer come without a cost. Let me be clear,
04:06if you strike, you will be struck back. The emergency room drama The Pit leads this year's
