00:04Welcome to Countdown!
00:06Tonight a really amazing in-depth rock interview by our new reporters Tim and Debbie,
00:11plus new gold by Spandau Ballet and a casual encounter with the vinyl.
00:21That's The Cure with a song called The Walk.
00:24Next we have a girl who's had a string of hits in Australia and elsewhere.
00:27Molly catches up with her during the next song. This is Kim Wilde, a song called Love Blonde.
00:49Something's coming down the street. Something's standing under your feet.
00:57Never looking left alright.
01:00Cause she'll just blow you out of sight.
01:03She's never waiting for us.
01:05So what's happening for you now that we're recording soon?
01:07Well we're recording some new stuff for an album which we have to release in September.
01:11And we're working towards a single for May hopefully.
01:15And we're just writing a lot. Dad and Rick are writing in the same year.
01:19I'm sort of getting myself in shape because I hope to be touring a lot towards the end of the
01:24year.
01:24In all the European countries we didn't go to the first time.
01:28And I'd love to get down to Australia as well.
01:30What would you have been promising you to come down on a tour?
01:33Well, I've only been touring just yet. It's only a recent thing.
01:36It only happened half a year ago or so.
01:40So it's a new thing for me and it takes a long time to get everywhere.
01:44When your father and your brother are writing songs, do you spend much time with them when they're actually doing
01:49that?
01:49Coming up with ideas?
01:50Sometimes I do but most of the ideas that I put forth are actually in the studio once the songs
01:56have been written.
01:57And we're talking about production ideas.
01:59We're talking about changing lyrics or different ideas for lyrics, different words.
02:04So that's more when I have more of a say in the actual sort of songwriting part of it.
02:09But, you know, the two of them get together and I keep out of the way most of the time.
02:14So who are your favourite? I mean, is there any favourite acts you have at this time that you enjoy
02:20listening to, that are on the charts?
02:26Oh dear.
02:27Yeah.
02:29I mean, if I look at, like, when we look at things from home, if you say look at Culture
02:33Club, Boy George has got a very weird approach and a weird image.
02:38He's a very good singer and they're very good songs.
02:41Yeah, I think there's lots of good acts in the charts but I haven't really been listening to a lot
02:46of music in the charts just recently.
02:48I've been listening to a lot of American music. I've been listening to Chaka Khan and, you know, stuff like
02:54that.
02:55Right.
02:55Soul kind of music.
02:57Right.
02:58When you started off singing, did anyone have an influence on you? Any female singer?
03:03Yeah, Jenny Mitchell, actually.
03:05Although you wouldn't have seen that with a song like Kids in America.
03:09Hasn't nothing to do with it, anyway.
03:10Jenny Mitchell is my big sort of heroine and I adore everything she does.
03:16Alright, Wilson, best of luck.
03:17And thanks for coming on Countdown again.
03:20It's a pleasure.
03:20At this time, have you understood all my questions?
03:22Completely.
03:23Thank God for that.
03:24Thanks, Kim.
03:25Okay, thank you.
03:26Bye-bye.
