The iPad Air with M4 isn't a reinvention of the tablet, but it meaningfully improves what was already one of Apple’s best devices. With the powerful M4 chip, 12GB of RAM, and improved connectivity, the new Air again blurs the line between this model and the iPad Pro while maintaining a much more approachable price.

00:04the new ipad air might look almost identical to the previous generation but inside apple's made
00:09a pretty big upgrade it now runs on the m4 chip gets more ram faster wi-fi and improved connectivity
00:16all while still sitting well below the price of the ipad pro so the question is does it deliver
00:21pro level performance without the pro price well to find that out i've been testing the ipad air
00:26with m4 for over a week and here's how it's been in real world use so let's dive in and
00:31of course
00:32you can find links for the best ipad air deals in the description box below
00:39at first glance the ipad air with m4 looks almost exactly like the previous model
00:44and honestly that's not a bad thing apple sticks with the same premium aluminum design that's been
00:49refined over the past few generations it's thin lightweight and still feels incredibly well
00:54built whether you're holding it in portrait mode or landscape mode with a keyboard it still comes in
00:58two sizes that you can get either 11 inches or 13 inches which means you can choose something
01:03compact or something closer to a laptop size workspace touch id remains built into the power
01:09button at the top edge and it continues to work quickly and reliably for unlocking the tablet
01:13or confirming purchases of course it will be nice to see face id here but apple is still deeming that
01:20a pro feature you'll also find the magnet for attaching the apple pencil pro or apple pencil usbc
01:25along with the smart connector on the back for pairing it with apple's magic keyboard so while the
01:30design hasn't changed it's still one of the best tablet designs out there and plenty portable
01:38the display is another area where apple stuck with what already worked the ipad air still uses a liquid
01:44retina display and on the 13 inch model that gives you a huge canvas for multitasking watching
01:49movies editing photos or sketching with the apple pencil colors are vibrant text looks crisp and
01:56the interreflective coating helps cut down glare when you're using it under bright lights indoors
02:00or outdoors on a very sunny day now like previous air models the display still runs at 60 hertz rather
02:07than the buttery smooth 120 hertz pro motion that's reserved for the ipad pro so in the unlikely
02:13chance that you're coming from an ipad pro you might notice the difference when scrolling or drawing
02:17quickly but for most people especially if you're upgrading from an older ipad maybe an older air
02:23the screen here still looks excellent
02:28now the cameras haven't really changed this generation you still get a 12 megapixel rear camera
02:34and a 12 megapixel front facing camera the front camera still supports center stage which keeps you
02:40framed in the middle of the shot regardless of how much you might move around during video calls it's
02:44pretty handy but the real story with the ipad air is performance apple moved the air to the m4 chip
02:51and that's a big deal inside is an 8 core cpu a 9 core gpu and a 16 core neural
02:56engine giving the
02:57tablet a serious boost in performance for multitasking creative work and gaming especially if you're coming
03:04from an older model think m1 or before that apple also managed to increase the memory to 12 gigs of
03:10ram
03:11which is especially helpful when you're running multiple apps or heavier workloads in my testing
03:16the ipad air handled everything i threw at it be it editing photos working in several apps at once
03:21with proper multitasking exporting videos playing games it rarely slowed down simply put the ipad air
03:28flies in everyday use the ipad air with m4 feels like a tablet that's getting closer and closer to
03:34replacing a laptop pair it with the magic keyboard and it becomes a really capable device for writing
03:39editing or managing email add in the apple pencil and it turns into a more powerful tool for drawing
03:45note-taking or creative work of course both of those are optional accessories so they're not included
03:51and they don't come cheap battery life is also still very solid apple rates it for about 10 hours
03:56of web browsing or video playback on the wi-fi models and in my testing it easily lasted through
04:01most of a full workday connectivity is also getting an upgrade here with the ipad air with m4 the ipad
04:07air
04:07now supports wi-fi 7 and bluetooth 6 and on the cellular models it is opting for apple c1x modem
04:14which delivers faster and more efficient 5g connectivity i saw some pretty fast speeds all
04:19of this comes together and helps makes the ipad air feel more future-proof than ever before
04:27so should you buy the ipad air with m4 for most people who want a bigger screen or a more
04:33robust
04:33feature set over say the entry-level ipad the answer is probably yes you're getting a tablet
04:38that's incredibly fast thanks to the m4 chip and 12 gigs of ram paired with a great display strong
04:44battery life and a design that works well for both productivity and entertainment yes the ipad pro
04:50still offers a few upgrades like an oled display and a pro motion refresh rate but unless you specifically
04:56need those features the ipad air hits a really compelling balance of power portability and price
05:02as a reminder the ipad air starts at 599 or 599 pounds for the 11 inch and 799 or 799
05:10pounds
05:11for the 13 inch and once again it might just be the ipad most people should buy
05:15and it reinforces the theme of being the pro model for everyone
