United States and Belgium fans were united in shared surprise at FIFA's decision to suspend US forward Folarin Balogun's automatic red-card ban, speaking ahead of the World Cup last-16 match between the two nations in Seattle on July 6.

Following an appeal by the US White House, FIFA decided that the implementation of the match suspension against Balogun for his straight red card in the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina is suspended for a probationary period of one year.

00:08It's important for me to say, obviously, first and foremost, you know, it was totally
00:11unintentional, which I'm sure a lot of people know, but, you know, I think the choice of
00:18the referee was, of course, his choice, but I don't think it was the correct call.
00:23I think a yellow ball.
00:33Can you wrap it up, please?
00:36You know, a win, a win?
00:39It's over.
00:41He's going to save it.
00:42Responsable and the signature conductor.
00:45No way.
00:49USA!
00:50USA!
00:51USA!
00:53USA!
00:53USA!
01:00I think it was unfair red.
01:02And I think a lot of, you know, the football insiders have kind of agreed with that.
01:08But once you give a red, it's a red.
01:12Obviously, as a US supporter, I'm quite happy with it.
01:15But definitely understand the other side and how it's pretty unprecedented.
01:21I don't know, it's kind of a difficult situation to be in, I think.
01:26Obviously, happy to have him back.
01:27He's one of our best players.
01:29But I understand the Belgian perspective as well that it's, you know, 24 hours before
01:33the match happens and whole game plan goes out the window.
01:36You have to change that completely.
01:38I think it's more of an Infantino problem than it is a Trump problem.
01:42I think fair by Trump for, you know, trying to help out the US, trying to do whatever
01:48he can and, like, organizing, I think it was a lawyer team.
01:52But at the end of the day, I think it comes down to FIFA and Infantino not being who they
01:56are, however you want to say.
01:57I think it's more of kind of their problem.
02:00But who knows how that conversation went, what happened there.
02:03I'm sure it'll come out over time.
02:08The final match is in Paris.
02:10Plus, Paris!
02:12Plus, Paris!
02:17N'Goi a red card.
02:21For a final match, I mean, the last man, he takes the knife.
02:26The red card, justifié.
02:28A match a suspension.
02:29So, there are two points, two measures.
02:30Now, I don't want to say that football is corrupted, but in any case, today, I think
02:40that in the whole world, all the reactions and reactions of great players who are on the
02:45table, I think that is quite overwhelming.
02:49I think that after the FIFA decision to play Oregon, I think that players will remain
02:56focused on their match. Now, imagine you at a single moment that Belgium dominates for
03:0290 minutes, creates multiple occasions, and at the end, on a bait-contre, we win and
03:07it's Bellogone who wins the goal. That could really make us a lot of pain, but in
03:13terms of the players themselves, I think that Rudy Garcia is quite... Even the players themselves
03:18are quite professional to go beyond that. It remains a player like us.
