(RECORDED CALL) Did the UAB (University of Alabama At Birmingham) healthcare network blacklist me as a patient after I uncovered evidence referring medical doctors misdiagnosed a near fatal broken skull head trauma and infection I had in 2019? I may now be the victim of discriminatory practices by associated health care practitioners. A UAB receptionist confirmed for me that my chart had been "printed" in 2022, although the last contact I had with UAB was in 2019, after being referred to UAB neurology / Dr. Mina Lobbous by Dr. Perry L. Savage Sr., a 50 year experienced Orthopedic specialist with OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports. This doctor tried to tell me in a 2019 visit looking at CT and MRI showing broken skull bone and 6 inches diameter infection in my head, that I had no injuries present there.

Listen to my recorded phone call as a prospective patient in March, 2023. I am told there would be a 8 month waiting list to be seen by a primary care doctor (a regular jack of all trades family doctor) at a UAB medicine satellite in Leeds, AL. I was then told that If I was willing to drive into downtown Birmingham, I could be placed on a waiting list to see a doctor at the Whitaker Clinic in August, 2023 (5 months wait). I post images of the Leeds location parking lot on an random day and can confirm having driven past the location in the past that the parking lot is never full.

According to my research, 8 months is too long (and totally not professional) a wait for a medical institution the size of UAB. Rated as the 8th largest hospital in the United States by Becker's, UAB's campus in downtown Birmingham is around 80-100 city blocks in size.

00:00All right, UAB Primary Care, Birmingham, Alabama.
00:04They told me on March 23rd, 2023, that if I wanted to see a primary care doctor, that's
00:16like a jack-of-all-trades family doctor, as a new patient, I would have to go on a waiting
00:25list, and the soonest that they could see me at the Leeds, Alabama clinic was November
00:352023, and that is an eight-month waiting list.
00:41If I was willing to drive into downtown Birmingham, I could be put on a waiting list for August
00:492023, that's five months.
00:51I did some research and some asking around, and from what I can find, it looks like eight
01:02months' wait to see a primary care doctor in the United States of America, this is probably
01:09a bit too long.
01:12For an organization the size of UAB, I think this is really unacceptable.
01:19If you drive downtown Birmingham on the south side, you'll see that the entire UAB campus
01:28is around 83 city blocks.
01:33A good portion of the real estate in downtown Birmingham on the south side, it's UAB.
01:43Becker's Hospital Review in 2020 rated UAB the eighth largest hospital in the United States
01:54of America with 1,207 beds.
01:59So yeah, I think for them to have a primary care network that makes new patients wait eight
02:09months, this is totally unacceptable.
02:13I found out something interesting in that phone call, and I'll play this excerpt.
02:28The receptionist here, she tells me that my chart was printed in 2022.
02:43And this is interesting, I was referred to UAB Neurology by Dr. Perry L. Savage Sr. of Ortho Alabama
02:56Spine and Sports.
02:59And you can see my uploaded medical records and documentation with him and that medical practice
03:06at my YouTube channel, it's my medical nightmare.
03:12I showed him, printed out CT images, and we both looked at MRI pictures on a CD-ROM that showed
03:26broken skull bone and around six inches diameter infection in my head.
03:38And I knew what I was looking at.
03:40I asked him about those anomalies, and he told me with a straight face right in front of me
03:46that there were no injuries present in those pictures.
03:49I put the pictures up on that YouTube channel.
03:52They're in many videos, and you can see for yourself the truth about my injury.
03:58So from that visit, yeah, I was referred on to UAB Neurology in 2019.
04:06The last contact that I had with anybody at UAB as a patient, this was in 2019.
04:16So it looks like my chart may have been updated in 2022.
04:26Yeah, and I'm real interested to know who printed this and for what reasons.
04:36And taking all this into account, yeah, I think this opens up the possibility that I may have been
04:45blacklisted by the UAB network.
04:48Because what I was doing in 2022 is I had started documentation efforts on the fact that I had an
05:00injury that was misdiagnosed by other doctors.
05:03And, yeah, I was going to UAB to try to get another opinion on this.
05:11Calling UAB Medicine Leeds.
05:13For prime care and pediatrics, please press 1.
05:17Thank you for calling UAB Medicine.
05:19This is Bailey.
05:20How may I help you?
05:21Yes, ma'am.
05:22I would like to make an appointment with a doctor, please.
05:27Okay, sure.
05:28I can help you with that.
05:30Have you ever been seen at UAB before for anything?
05:34Yeah, I went to the emergency department and I stood there downtown Birmingham for five hours waiting to be seen.
05:44And I never saw a doctor.
05:45I got tired of standing.
05:47I had to leave the emergency department.
05:49Do you want to make you aware before we get started for a new patient here at the Leeds Clinic
05:54in primary care?
05:55We are booked until November.
05:57And we do have a wait list as well that I could add to you.
06:00Okay, I would just like to confirm.
06:03You say that the earliest you can see me is November.
06:06I'm calling and my calendar says it's March 23, 2023.
06:11Is that correct?
06:15Today is, yes.
06:16So that is, let's see, April, May, June, July, August, September, October.
06:22That's eight months from now.
06:25Right.
06:26For a primary care visit, there's no other place I can go to that will see me any faster.
06:33Okay, so we have the Whitaker Clinic, which is in Birmingham.
06:37The first available there is August the 7th.
06:41Yeah, I really don't want to wait that long.
06:43It's not professional business practices to make customers wait so long for such a menial service.
