00:00The day of blockbusters in the NHL continued with the St. Louis Blues moving franchise cornerstone
00:05Jordan Kyrou to the Washington Capitals. A bit of a surprising contender comes out
00:10with a very exciting player that leaves a lot of questions. So let's talk about
00:15a very interesting move between Washington and St. Louis.
00:25So Jordan Kyrou, one of the big names on trade boards a lot, ends up on the move as he
00:31goes
00:31to the Washington Capitals. The trade coming in, this one was happening while I was getting ready
00:36to do this other stuff, so not as familiar with it just yet, but it is. Yeah, Jordan Kyrou,
00:43the right winger, traded to Washington in exchange for Conor McMichael, Milton Gastron,
00:47and the 16th overall pick in the 26 NHL entry draft. So Kyrou to Washington. This is not a move
00:56I was expecting. You see Washington make the Carlson trade last year, and it felt like they
01:01were going maybe in a little bit of a rebuild direction. Ovi probably done. Let's start to
01:08look at the future here a little bit. And then they go out and make a very much a win
01:12-now move
01:12in bringing in Jordan Kyrou. Now look, I love Kyrou as a player. I think he's fantastic.
01:18Um, this is, this is them saying, we're going for it. Still, we want to be competitive. We want to
01:24be
01:25good. We are going to try to just bridge right from Ovi into another very successful season here
01:31with this hockey club. It's a bit of a steep price, but Kyrou is that good. You know, like we
01:36are not
01:36talking about, oh, well, maybe this, no, this is genuinely a very, very high level hockey player here
01:43in the NHL. He brings speed and, um, a real high offensive upside with him and a very good
01:50playmaking ability as well to Washington. So very excited to see how he fits in with this
01:55Capitals team. And honestly, just have to kind of rejig where I think the Capitals are going to be
01:59this upcoming season. So a really exciting move there for Washington and on the St. Louis side,
02:05they're obviously going in a rebuild direction. They're obviously going, um, to, to try to get
02:09younger and, and just, yeah, in a teardown rebuild sort of a thing. These are three very good pieces.
02:15Gastron was the second round pick in last year's draft, 37th overall, I believe. Um, McMichael,
02:20pretty good young player, hasn't necessarily scratched the surface on what he can be, but
02:24there's, I think, a real upside there. And the 16th overall pick gives this team now four picks in the
02:30first round of this NHL entry draft. So they control a lot of the cards right now here. They could
02:36go with
02:36both Ruck twins based on where those picks are landing, um, that they could try to package a few
02:40and move up, um, into a couple of different places here. So a very interesting move for St. Louis that
02:47to me kind of came out of nowhere. Uh, but I, I, I, I like it for Washington, but I
02:52now have to reassess
02:53where they're at and I like it for the blues. And now they become one of the more interesting teams
02:59to
02:59watch coming up at Friday's draft. So a lot to cover on the show. Um, and a lot to cover
03:06with
03:06this, uh, with this trade. What do you guys think? Cause like I said, this one kind of caught me
03:10off
03:10guard. So we're just kind of reacting to it here in the moment. Again, who's getting the win?
03:15Washington, St. Louis, let me know in the comments. And while you're at it, share this video with your
03:19hockey fan friends. We are looking to grow couch potato diary and, uh, hitting that share button
03:24really does help us out there. So, um, yeah, if you could move this along to some other hockey
03:29fan friends, love the community we've built here with couch potato diary, but just want you guys
03:32to have more people to talk to. So holy smokes, what a day in the NHL.
