00:00I'm totally concerned about healthy youth in Africa. Zanzibar is a part of Tanzania and we are all working together,
00:09Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar, as one country, especially in terms of health, even though Zanzibar is an autonomous island, doing
00:18their way, they've got parliament, president and everything, but we are combating together, especially in healthy youth.
00:25Health in Zanzibar is paramount because we depend upon tourism and we build our economy by tourism. Almost 38%
00:34of our GDP depends upon tourism. So tourism always is very important if health systems are proper in the country.
00:43Pandemics must be out of the place whereby tourists can come and visit. So our economy depending upon our health
00:52as well.
00:53So as Minister of Health, I'm here to learn more about Plan Matei, which is very important. It has been
01:04started since last year, January 2024, the summit with the Italian Development and Corporation and African countries.
01:13And I understand that the Prime Minister herself is very, very eager to see that this collaboration between African countries
01:21and Italy is enhanced and strengthened.
01:24So I'm here to learn more about this MATEI Plan, but also to appeal to Global Fund and other funders
01:38like Global Fund and Gavi, who are really supporting Zanzibar in our endeavours.
01:44Global Fund is supporting us a lot on malaria, supporting us a lot on HIV, supporting us a lot on
01:54tuberculosis and Gavi supporting us on strengthening health systems and vaccination.
02:04All together, we are working also on mother and child health, which is very important. Our mother and child mortality
02:13is still high in Zanzibar.
02:15We are working hard to reduce mortality and mobility on mother and child health.
02:20Thank you.
02:22Thank you.
02:22Thank you.
