00:00I'm Lucrezia, I come from Italy, nice to meet you.
00:03Thank you.
00:03Nice to meet you.
00:03First of all, how are you?
00:05Very well.
00:05Good.
00:06Thank you, how are you?
00:07I'm doing great, thank you.
00:10My first question is for both.
00:13Furiosa is resilient, she does not suffer the world inhabited by ruthless men like Dementius.
00:21In your point of view, what do these characters tell us about today's world?
00:27Oh my goodness, you know, I think it's very interesting when you see films like this,
00:32you're able to sometimes have an easier point of view of us all as an audience member
00:36because you're not as attached to it being something that's a commentary on yourself.
00:40I think seeing this, you know, woman attempt to make her way in a world being absolutely
00:46savaged by these two men who want control and power, there is something beautiful in seeing
00:50her just refusal to stay down.
00:53She just keeps going and going until she gets some sort of a victory, and I find that very
00:58inspiring.
00:59For you?
01:00Yeah.
01:01Yeah, look, I love the sort of examination of human beings in this film, you know, how
01:06people respond differently to adversity and to challenges, and, you know, you see Dementius
01:11who's full of ego and anger and fury, and, you know, he was a victim and a product of that
01:17wasteland, but doesn't excuse his actions, you know.
01:20And then you see Furioso who's gone through tremendous pain and suffering and choose to
01:24act out with nobility and honour, and I like the messaging that, you know, it's ultimately
01:31our decisions that define us, not the circumstances that we do have sort of agency over that.
01:36And you see different people, as I said, behave differently.
01:40Praetorian Jack in the film, for instance, who was just...
01:42The best of us.
01:43Incredible, yeah.
01:44And was, you said it so wonderfully, was in support of her ideals, her dream.
01:51You know, just...
01:53Yeah, just a...
01:53No, it's...
01:54There's also something very interesting that this movie has to say about revenge, which
01:58I quite enjoy, because we have, as a society, an obsession with the revenge story, and of
02:02course we do.
02:03It's juicy and interesting, but I think, without spoiling anything, I think I can say this,
02:09is the idea that ultimately, you know, retribution doesn't really give you anything.
02:15It never, you know, it's like an eye for an eye, it just doesn't give you the thing that
02:18you want.
02:20Specifically in a movie that's like, or a world that's as violent as this movie, I think that's
02:25quite cool, that that's kind of the message.
02:28There's plenty of sort of, the sort of allegoric nature of this, you know, how George tells
02:33his stories and a mythology that's baked, you know, throughout, I find you really enjoy
02:39book.
02:39I like the conversation that sparks with an audience between us, everybody, you know.
02:43Yeah.
02:43How did this movie challenge you emotionally and physically?
02:48Oh, I mean, I loved the physical challenge, because I've just never had the opportunity
02:53to do so many stunts.
02:55I love our stunt team so much, it was really cool to be working with them every single day,
02:59and I come from a ballet training, and so there's something about the precision of it
03:04all that I find very exciting.
03:07My analytical brain is like, oh, this is amazing.
03:10Emotionally, it was hard because I was just quite isolated on this movie, and she as a character
03:14is a very isolated character.
03:16So that all kind of compounded on itself, but I do think that that was the only, like,
03:21I kind of knew that that was going to happen before I went out there.
03:24I knew that it would have to be a sort of separatist experience, and I'm really grateful that I
03:31had it.
03:31It's such an extraordinary team of people to work with, and, yeah, it was amazing.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Yeah, I, when we've discussed this at length, just the, you know, as exhausting as any film
03:43is and challenging, like, when you feel so strongly about the subject matter, you have
03:51such respect for the director, the space, the franchise, what you're a part of, and enthusiasm
03:56due to being a fan of the Mad Max world like we were, there were long days, but they were
04:01rewarding.
04:02They were the challenging, but they were the good kind, and, you know, the sort of, the
04:06lessons you're pulling from those challenges was very unique to anything else I've done
04:12before, but I love the sort of what the character offered up.
04:16I love the fact that it was forcing me to ask questions I hadn't asked before and go
04:22to a place I haven't been to, and so all rewarding kind of.
04:26Everyone's hyped.
04:27Yeah.
04:27Like, when you're on set, everyone's like, this is cool.
04:30Let's do this.
04:31Yeah, especially when they say start your engines.
04:33And all the motorbikes and cars and trucks erupt, and the whole place just kind of goes off.
04:39It's cool.
04:39Anya, Chris, thank you for your time.
04:41Thank you, love.
04:41It was a pleasure.
04:42Thanks so much.
04:42Talking to you.
04:43You're beautiful.
04:44Thank you.
04:45You are a sunrise.
04:46Bye-bye.
04:46Bye-bye.
04:47Bye-bye.
04:49Bye-bye.
04:49Bye-bye.
04:49Bye-bye.
04:49Bye-bye.
04:49Bye-bye.
04:50Bye-bye.
