00:00In the 1950s, he wanted to figure out how long a rat can swim for in water.
00:04And at 15 minutes, turns out the average wild rat gives up, sinks under the water, and dies.
00:09He took another group of wild rats, and now, this time, at the 15-minute mark,
00:14right before he knew they would give up, he took out the wild rat, dried it off,
00:18and plunked, put it back in the water.
00:20Now, he did this a few times and conditioned the rat,
00:22and he wanted to find out could he increase how long the rat could swim for.
00:26When I present this study to folks, and I ask them,
00:28okay, guess, the rat started at 15 minutes.
00:31How much longer did the rat swim?
00:33People say, okay, maybe twice as long, maybe three times, maybe four times as long.
00:37The rat went from 15 minutes to an hour.
00:40Wouldn't that be amazing?
00:41But the rats didn't swim for an hour.
00:42The rats did not swim for 60 minutes.
00:43They swam for 60 hours.
00:46And that's exactly what happens to us,
00:48that when we change our beliefs into these liberating beliefs,
00:51what we thought was impossible for us, now becomes possible.
