Synopsis : Willy Clark, une ancienne vedette du music-hall, est devenu un vieil homme entêté et maniaque. Ses préjugés et son humour grinçant ne facilitent pas la vie de son neveu, Ben Clark. Celui-ci prend soin de lui et essaie de lui décrocher quelques petits rôles. Mais le caractère difficile de Willy fait régulièrement échouer les projets de Ben. Il parvient malgré tout à dénicher à son oncle un contrat pour la télévision. Willy devra animer une émission avec Al Lewis, qui fut naguère son partenaire dans un fameux duo comique : "The Sunshine Boys". Voilà onze ans que les deux hommes ne se sont pas revus. Willy hésite avant d'accepter cette proposition car, si les deux hommes s'entendaient parfaitement sur scène, il en allait autrement dans la vie quotidienne.
