00:00We're super excited to be delivering this world first format for 2027
00:04with men's and women's racing on the final three stages.
00:08It should be epic.
00:10Well, the 2027 men's race is definitely the hardest and longest we've had in history.
00:15We've got double ascensions of the Corkscrew, we've got double ascensions of Wollonga Hill
00:21and a couple of really punchy stages, even the opening stage,
00:24which has traditionally been a relatively flat one for the sprinters.
00:28It certainly isn't with three ascensions of Chequers Hill.
00:31So even on the flat days, there's always something there to challenge the peloton.
00:35Yeah, well in 2027 we get to showcase quite a few of South Australia's iconic coastal locations.
00:42So kick-starting with Henley Beach and down to Glenelg and Christie's Beach
00:46we'll see the final, or the Saturday stage roll out.
00:49But yeah, it's a great opportunity to showcase the South Australian coastline in summer.
00:55So there should be plenty of people out there to cheer on the men and women as they take off.
00:59Yeah, again, you know, always trying to find and discover new locations
01:03where the race hasn't gone and it's actually quite difficult.
01:08But yeah, believe it or not, we haven't ridden past places like West Lakes before,
01:12over the Birkenhead Bridge out of Port Adelaide.
01:14So they're really iconic locations.
01:17Port Adelaide has obviously been in plenty of tour down unders in the past,
01:20but we haven't gone over the bridge.
01:21So even, you know, showcasing those kind of things to a global audience is exciting.
01:27Yeah, this new format with the men's and women's in the final three days,
01:32we had to get creative.
01:34Obviously we couldn't have any risk of the races intertwining or catching each other.
01:39I think that was the biggest risk.
01:41So we've worked pretty hard on designing what is exciting and difficult,
01:48which is probably the longest stages that women have had in the past,
01:52doing the equal distance in the same day.
01:56But in saying that, we've now got mandatory participation from all the women's world tour team.
02:00So the quality of the field is definitely high enough where they can tackle the longer
02:04and more challenging stages quite comfortably.
02:07But yeah, what we've given the women, I guess, in this occasion is three really challenging days.
02:14It's difficult from day one.
02:16Glenelga Victor Harbour with Nettle Hill in the final of the stage is really difficult.
02:20Obviously two ascensions to Wollonga Hill.
02:23So the fans on that day will have four opportunities to see the men pass and then the women.
02:28And then the final stage, Norwood to Stirling.
02:31You know, it's a real Adelaide Hills classic.
02:33Difficult stage start, Norton Summit, beautiful roads,
02:36but then finishing a lap and a half in Stirling.
02:38So it'll be, you know, really two worthy champions of the 2027 edition.
02:45Yeah, really looking forward to seeing how the crowds come out at Norwood.
02:49Norwood's been a staple part of TDU history.
02:52Super supportive, one of our most iconic strips for cafes, restaurants and shopping.
02:57So knowing that the crowd's normally relatively big there on the weekends,
03:01I think this will, you know, create extra, I guess, hype and atmosphere
03:06and just a fantastic location to roll out our final men's and women's stages for the 2027 race.
03:14Perfect.
03:27Thank you very much.
03:28Thank you.
03:29Thank you.
