05:05My father took me to a concert, and I remember my father lifting me up to Loretta Lynn and her
05:11signing my book.

05:14My mama, she is just like a country star.
05:17If I could picture her in a perfect world, she's sitting on a porch in a field with her little
05:24cowgirl boots on and a cup of coffee listening to some good country tunes.
05:30How do you feel about Olivia, like, taking the reins on it?

05:38I love the fact that she's going to take the reins.
05:43It's a little difficult letting go of control of things, but I've learned over the past few years that life
05:48doesn't always hand you what you plan.

05:52Because honestly, you know, when I met Alex, marriage wasn't even a thought in my head.
05:57How did you and Alex meet?
05:59I had been widowed for about two years, and I was seeing a grief counselor, and he said, I think
06:04you're ready to go out and have coffee with someone.
06:05I was like, oh, no, I don't think so.
06:08And he said, no, I think you are.
06:10I said, I don't know anyone.
06:11He said, there's apps for that.
06:14I had loved, and I had lost, and I didn't want to experience that again.
06:20My husband passed away a little over four years ago.
06:23He was sick for the last three and a half years of his life.
06:25I just was kind of content with learning how to live alone.
06:30First of all, girls, I'm so sorry.
06:33To be a caretaker, a mom, working full-time.
06:36Colleen, you're amazing.
06:38When my dad got sick, my mom and I had, like, a pretty interesting bond form out of that.
06:45We were just a team.
06:46I think it showed us the grit that we have and the strength that we had to get through some
06:52really challenging days.
06:53She was my rock.
06:57Tell me more about Alex.
06:59They were quite romantic with the talking at first.
07:02She's like, ooh, he's calling me right now.
07:05And she would, like, scurry off into her room, and they would just talk for, like, hours.
07:09I felt like I was in high school again.
07:11I was just going to say that sounds like teenagers in love, like, going off to your room to talk
07:15on the phone.
07:15We both had the same faith background, and we both enjoy country music.
07:20So I thought, this is somebody I think I could probably have a good conversation with.
07:24The first night that I went out with Alex, I was really nervous.
07:28I haven't been on a date in 34 years.
07:30Olivia said, Mom, be yourself.
07:33He'll love you for who you are.
07:35And that almost made me cry.
07:37I thought, wow, this is my kid giving me dating advice.
07:40I just got to see this giddy, cute side of her that I really haven't seen because life had always
07:48been so stressful.
07:49And I, like, immediately just loved him for that alone, to, like, pull this version out of my mom that
07:56she always kind of deserved and had in her.
07:59How did he do it?

08:02So Alex proposed to me by writing a song, and it's just absolutely beautiful.
08:06And the fact that he wrote it for me was just, nobody's ever done anything like that.
08:10So it was really kind of cool.
