00:08You have each been convicted of the murder of Joanne Penny on the 9th of March 2025.

01:02Joanne Penny was an innocent victim in a drugs war.

01:10All she did was open a front door at a friend's house.
01:18No period of imprisonment can reflect the value of the life which was taken away by murdering her.
01:24The court has heard from her family, parents, siblings and young daughters, all trying to put into their own words
01:36how hearts were broken, a light turned off, a history wiped out, a future taken away, an entire family shot
01:46through its heart.
01:48When Joanne Penny, the mother, daughter and sister, loved by so many family and friends, was so senselessly taken.
01:58For the offence of murder, there is only one sentence recognised by law.
02:02It is a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
