Rescue work underway after quakes rock Venezuela, 'high casualties' likely

Two powerful earthquakes — a magnitude 7.2 followed by a 7.5 — struck west of Caracas on Wednesday, collapsing buildings and trapping residents under rubble.

The USGS warned of potentially heavy casualties and widespread destruction.
