00:00The parallels between Beulah and John Dutton, I was wondering if that's a fair comparison to make
00:04and why or why not that might be. Yeah, I think it is a fair comparison, although for Beulah,
00:09of course, from her point of view, is that she's just trying to keep everything from falling apart.
00:16Her ranch is really on borrowed time, her son's very ill, and she's trying to keep it all together
00:25and trying to maintain this legacy that her father passed on to her. And she has a lot of
00:30complicated feelings about that and still is trying to please her father. And so when you can
00:38kind of tap into those kinds of deep things like Beth has done and Kelly was able to do in
00:44her
00:44amazing acting, that's kind of where my inspiration is really in things falling apart. And that's a
00:51great character. When you know that the character is desperately, it's like having a hole inside of
00:57you that she's trying to fill and that's good writing. And so I did my best to try to dramatize
01:02all of that. I mean, here's the thing that if she was a male character, he'd be powerful,
01:06but because she's female, she is scary. But I don't, I mean, the thing is, is that she knows
01:12her worth. She knows her power. She is the boss around there and people respect her. And I think that
01:21it's one of those things with, with female bosses specifically where the male perspective and the
01:25female perspective, the moment where you are a female, then all of a sudden you're seen as harsh,
01:30but when you're a male, you're powerful. And I think it's really interesting to see her in this
01:34position. And Kelly, Beth has done such a great job of that balance between being powerful, but not,
01:42not harsh. And that's what Annette does so well. You can, you can just, it's literally just the eye
01:49contact. It's, it's the intense deepness there. And I think it's something that anybody that is
01:57intense in this, the same way with Beth and Rip, which I think one of the reasons that people love
02:01their character so much is they are these strong, independent, independent individuals.
02:05And then the moment that they're together, they're able to release and feel love and emotion and be
02:13just vulnerable. And you're going to see that with Annette's character as well. You're going to see
02:17it with my character as well. It's one of my favorite parts of this entire universe. It's the
02:20realism that comes behind creating stories that are based on real emotion and relationships.
