00:20Mind action must advance hand in hand.
00:24We see this transformation around 30 billion dollars of investment.
00:28These new conditions require smarter grids, more digitalized systems, and greater storage capacity, stronger transmission and distribution networks, including solar
00:39panels, wind turbine components, advanced batteries, and smart electrical equipment.
00:45Of course, we cannot talk about these technologies without...
00:48Thank you very much, dear Fatih.
00:51Honorable ministers, excellencies, dear guests, ladies and gentlemen.
00:55First of all, I would like to thank once again to International Energy Agency and our COP31 presidency for bringing
01:03us together today.
01:05As we all know, recent years have been one crisis after another.
01:10The COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, trade wars, natural disasters, the war in Ukraine and Iran, and the largest
01:20supply shock in oil and gas markets we have ever witnessed.
01:24These regional conflicts are never confined to just one location.
01:29Their consequences are felt across the global economy.
01:33In this regard, the energy sector is one of the most vulnerable.
01:37That's why the energy security has once again moved to the center of our debates.
01:43But even before these conflicts and disruptions, the global energy landscape was already changing rapidly.
01:50With its spike in consumption, we have entered the age of electricity, as also Fatih Birol said in his opening
01:57remarks.
01:57And last year, global energy demand grew by 1.3%, while power demand increased at more than twice that pace.
02:06This massive surge is being driven by exponential growth of, as already been said, electric vehicles, AI-driven data centers,
02:16rising cooling demand, and the rapid electrification of our modern economies.
02:21There is a need for a new market design, which is more resilient, more inclusive, and better aligned with today's
02:29harsh realities, where energy security and climate action must advance hand-in-hand.
02:36We see this transformation as an opportunity.
02:40Building on this, we've established a clear vision for 2035.
02:43Just two weeks ago, our COP31 presidency, they announced an important milestone, a target to increase the share of electricity
02:53in global final energy consumption to 35% by the year 2035.
02:59This is a very ambitious goal and reflects a simple reality.
03:03The future energy system will be increasingly electrified, digitalized, and decentralized.
03:08In Turkey, our renewable energy journey already provides a strong foundation.
03:13Today, renewable resources account for nearly two-thirds of our installed power capacity, with plans to triple renewable energy capacity
03:22by the year 2035.
03:24To support this massive influx of renewable power, we are also modernizing our national grid through a breakthrough 40-gigawatt
03:32HVDC lines and transmission corridor,
03:35which will need around $30 billion of investment.
03:38These new conditions require smarter grids, more digitalized systems, and greater storage capacity, stronger transmission and distribution networks,
03:48and of course, significantly higher investment in flexibility and resilience.
03:53This new architecture, based on the new realities of the world, forces us to consider the entire value chain.
04:00Therefore, we position ourselves as a regional manufacturing hub for clean energy technologies,
04:06including solar panels, wind turbine components, advanced batteries, and smart electrical equipment.
04:12Of course, we cannot talk about these technologies without talking about critical minerals.
04:18Securing access to these minerals is essential, but possessing the resources is not enough.
04:24You must also have the necessary processing and refining capacity.
04:28Turkey can play a critical role in this regard as well.
04:32We are actively engaging with technology-driven countries, leading firms to overcome these challenges.
04:38But the most secure and clean energy is ultimately the energy is not consumed.
04:43By 2030, we plan to mobilize $20 billion investment on energy efficiency.
04:49Our message as we look toward COP31 in Antalya is very clear.
04:54Energy transition and energy security must advance together.
04:58A resilient future depends on cleaner, more diversified, highly connected, and secure energy systems.
05:05Turkey stands ready to lead, to cooperate, and to invest in our shared future.
05:10Thank you.
05:16Thank you very much.
05:18New tools to speed up the work that we need to do, for example, through Article 6 work with...
05:24Minister, I don't know the football, but you are the champion according to our numbers.
05:30He is and passionate, he is for this agenda, as he is for his continuing work with the IAEA to
05:37support electrification efforts,
05:39having recently provided them with some additional resourcing to support us.
05:43Before I conclude, I will also say a few words about the action agenda, focusing on the action agenda,
05:52should deliver action by electricity, from just over 20% today to 35%.
06:01This is why later today we will launch, and as we find out, a new platform for both...
06:07...affect the agenda and the debates that are coming in Turkey...
06:12...about the Brazilian presidency.
06:15This message is more timely than ever.
06:18There, the marginal cost of breaks are low, but when the access is limited, the marginal cost of...
