00:00Hello good people, welcome to Anime is Life and I heard a lot of hype behind Attack on Titan and
00:11I decided to check it out.
00:12Now I had seen its opening and it was freaking awesome and I thought, you know, I should try and
00:20watch this anime and see what this show is all about.
00:23And boy have I never seen anything like this. Like up until now, you know, I have been into Shonen
00:31anime mostly like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, right? The big three of Shonen Jump.
00:36But this was completely different. Like it was very dark, it was kind of disturbing, but not to the point
00:48where it gets too uncomfortable to not want to watch, right?
00:52I mean, go there, there is a bit of gore here and there and it's just the first episode. The
01:00Titans are creepy and I don't know how that's going to look going forward.
01:05But it was very creepy and it was like completely different. So the world of Attack on Titan is that
01:14the walls are protecting people, humans, from Titans.
01:26And Titans, they're like big creatures, humanoid-like creatures who are looking to break inside the wall, but they can't
01:36because the walls are too strong.
01:38But if they do, they are going to devour all the humans inside it and the wall is protecting them.
01:45So how did we get here? That is going to be very interesting to find out as the series progresses
01:51on.
01:51So there's a boy named Aaron who's had this very, I think, a nightmare or a dream.
01:59I'll call it a nightmare because basically he's left crying and when he wakes up, his friend Mikasa, she notices
02:07that there is tears in his eyes.
02:09They're basically collecting firewood and after they're done collecting firewood, they head back home.
02:17But on the way, they find the Survey Corps returning from an expedition.
02:24So basically the Survey Corps are the military, I guess, in the world of Attack on Titan who fight Titans
02:32outside the walls as we saw in the opening scene of the first episode before the opening theme played of
02:42Attack on Titan.
02:43And that to me was like, wow, I was mind blown because these people, they're basically trying to, you know,
02:52get a solution because they understand that there might be a time that the Titans might breach the wall
03:03or maybe because there is a natural disaster or maybe because there is a natural disaster, those walls might fall
03:07and the Titans might find their way in.
03:11But they're actually very skilled with this.
03:14They have a gear or some called, they call it omnidirectional gear or something.
03:20And basically, they attach it from tree to tree to swing and gain advantage when it comes to height and
03:28then try to kill the Titan.
03:31But when they return, they come back with heavy losses and one woman who has lost her son, she is
03:41told that even though the man was brave, his sacrifice basically meant nothing because it got them nothing.
03:50It didn't get them even an inch closer to securing their future outside the walls and they are badly injured,
04:00the whole survey corps, someone's missing an eye, someone's missing something, heavily bandaged, bleeding all over.
04:08And this guy, Moses, he basically, all that was left of him was an arm which was given to his
04:16mother.
04:17And that is such a terrifying thought to happen if you are a mother and to see that your son's
04:25sacrifice did not mean anything.
04:28This was freaking crazy.
04:30So Aaron heads back home with Mikasa and Mikasa, you know, she spills out Aaron's blood.
04:38He plans to be a part of the scout regiment and obviously his mother is very furious.
04:45She's scared.
04:45Why would you want to do something like that?
04:48It's dangerous.
04:49She does not want her son to die.
04:51But the father is like, he's more understanding.
04:55He's like, you cannot, you know, completely take out the boy's curiosity.
05:01He's just curious and he's going out on business.
05:04He's a doctor.
05:06And he's like, when I return back, I will let you in what's in the cellar.
05:12And he has a key.
05:13So that's going to be a very important part in the future.
05:17And basically they meet up with one of their friends.
05:20He's a blonde haired boy.
05:24And he's being bullied by some people.
05:26So Aaron tries to fight them.
05:28But the bullies are scared of Mikasa who's with Aaron and they just run.
05:33And then all of these three friends, Mikasa, Aaron and the blonde boy, I guess his name is, I think
05:40I read somewhere on the internet.
05:42I'm not sure if it was revealed in this episode.
05:45I think it was maybe Armin, I guess.
05:48So Armin, Aaron and Mikasa, they're just discussing about how this peaceful life, this comfortable life could be destroyed at
06:00any moment.
06:01And at that very moment, there is a side, there is a big titan and he's like all muscles and
06:08bones.
06:08And he kicks the wall.
06:10And that opening leads to more titans coming in, the smaller titans.
06:17But this titan is probably the largest, the tallest titan I think that we have ever seen in the first
06:24episode.
06:25And it is nightmare.
06:27The debris kill these citizens.
06:29People are dying, being devoured by titans left and right.
06:33Aaron's mother is crushed underneath their house because their house is near the debris, I think.
06:42And there is a smiling titan.
06:45Aaron and Mikasa try to protect their mother, but they can't.
06:49Her legs are crushed.
06:50And one guy named Hannes comes to their rescue and he's like, I am trained to fight.
06:57But he's just completely, he completely froze.
07:01He's terrified of the smiling titan, this creepy titan.
07:05And he chooses to back off from the titan and instead take Aaron and Mikasa.
07:12And they leave their mother behind.
07:15They're forced to leave their mother behind as Hannes takes both Aaron and Mikasa away.
07:23And they are forced to witness the trauma that is that smiling titan eat their mother.
07:30My god.
07:32This was freaking insane.
07:35And that's where the episode ends.
07:38And I'll be honest, I don't know why I did not see this anime before, but now that I've seen
07:43the first episode, I'm very interested in the world of Attack on Titan.
07:49What happened in this world that the human beings are forced to be protected by walls?
07:56And where are these titans coming from?
08:00And this, the walls, when we are getting a look at it, it just seems like an isolated area from,
08:07I think, the broader world.
08:09And, you know, I'm very curious about what things, what happened in the, in this world, that we are at
08:18a point where basically human beings are forced to be protected by the walls.
08:24And they're like, and someone is preaching like gods erected these walls.
08:29And I'm not buying that shit.
08:31I'm sure there's a big reason why the walls were erected.
08:36And I'm sure it has to do something more with, than just, you know, a naturally divine thing happening.
08:45And this was crazy, man.
08:48Unlike anything I have ever seen.
08:52And I'm going to see what happens in the next episodes going forward.
08:57But to see a kid, you know, witness that trauma of a titan cannibalizing their mother, that is freaking, just
09:11batshit crazy, man.
09:14That's intense.
09:16And, I mean, obviously this guy is now going to grow up and he wants to go to, go into
09:22scout regimen and get revenge on these titans.
09:26And specifically, that big, that big titan with bones and muscles, because he's the reason.
09:35And I think he seemed very different because the titans that I had seen in the first episode, they were
09:41like mindless, called mindless.
09:44But this one actually did something out of his own intelligence.
09:50It was like he had intention behind his move of kicking the wall.
09:57So, all in all, this was a great, fantastic first episode.
10:02And I'm looking forward to the next episode.
10:05That's it for this video.
10:06Thanks for watching.
10:07Stay safe.
10:08Stay happy.
10:09Take care.
10:09And until next video.
