The body of an eight-year-old boy feared to have drowned in Sungai Ganggarak Permai, Labuan on Wednesday (June 17) evening, has been found.

The victim, identified as Putra Faris Suhaimi, was found at 3.30pm on Thursday, about 50m from where a pair of slippers believed to belong to him was discovered the previous evening.

00:20The boy was reported missing after he fell into the river on Wednesday evening.
00:25Fire and Rescue Department Director Abdul Rahman Ali said the department received an emergency call at 6.36pm
00:33and immediately launched a search and rescue operation which involved boats covering the river area.
00:39The Wildlife Department also assisted in assessing the environment, including the possible presence of crocodiles and other risks.
