00:00Today we're here at the signing of an MLU bringing together sport, youth development, and community here in the UAE.
00:10Your Excellency, I want to start by asking, how does this partnership support the UAE's national priorities?
00:16Today we have the private sector willing to support us in our initiatives, and that's something that we've been striving
00:22for.
00:23We have started the school games initiatives three years ago.
00:25We have been working on making sure that we have a product that is able to sell itself to the
00:30private sector,
00:31and today we have been approached by Ferreiro, and they're willing to support us for the next three years.
00:35And when we talk about national priorities, the youth is obviously at the forefront of that.
00:39So how will this partnership benefit the youth of the UAE?
00:43By supporting the school games, we strive to make a more active youthful community,
00:49and we make sure that this youthful community is able to compete at a younger age at their earlier stages,
00:55and there we can even identify talent, and we have already identified talent through the school games.
00:59We have previously identified a fencer, we have identified a swimmer,
01:03and we have also participated with them in international sporting events.
01:07We have participated in, let's say, the gymnasium in Bahrain,
01:11where we got ninth place overall, and we were the first overall Arab.
01:14So we have seen a lot of fruitful results from these school games.
01:20So why was this MOU important for Ferreiro here in the GCC?
01:25First of all, because there is an alignment of value between the mission of the federation
01:30and the meaning of the platform that we have is Joy of Moving.
01:35This is an international platform already launched in more than 30 countries,
01:39and is moving millions of people every year.
01:43Now, the mission part of this partnership was UAE,
01:46so we are super proud and also grateful for the trust
01:49that the Minister of Sport and the Federation has given to us,
01:52and we are keen to give our contribution
01:55in order to make sure to engage communities, young people,
02:00enjoy the movement, and teaching them how it's important to have a balanced life.
02:05Is this something that you see stayed focused on the UAE,
02:08or do you see it expanding beyond?
02:11It's not a casualty that we are first starting in UAE,
02:14because for us, we are here, so we belong to this community.
02:19We have a strong sense of belonging to UAE.
02:22It's a starting point, it's a journey,
02:25and if the result will be there and the collaboration will be positive,
02:28we are ready also to scale and to roll out in other countries of Jesus.
02:33Why is the UAE such an important market for Ferrero?
02:36Well, the UAE is a strategic market for us.
02:39We've been here for the past 30 years.
02:42We have also recently invested in a local joint venture
02:46with a lot of partners, and we'll keep on investing for the future.
02:49Now, this is from a business perspective,
02:51so we are a family-owned business.
02:53We want also to give back to the community,
02:55and I think Joy of Moving is one example
02:57of how we want to give back to the community
02:59to this partnership with the Minister of Sports and with the Federation.
03:03What does this partnership have that other partnerships don't?
03:06I think it's a very good example of a partnership
03:08between the private and public sector,
03:11where we share really the values of it, right?
03:13So for us, it is a strategic objective
03:16to give back in terms of corporate social responsibility,
03:19and we will strongly believe that with Joy of Moving,
03:22which is fostering active life balance, sport inclusion,
03:26we can really meet the agenda of the UAE,
03:30and specifically the sport agenda of the UAE.
03:32And UAE, it is at the forefront within GCC,
03:35in the world of sport.
