00:00You mentioned the midterms, and that's absolutely crucial.
00:02I think he realizes that this has caused a lot of pain back home.
00:06The petrol prices, the gas prices in America have been hit.
00:10The war is unpopular, not least with Donald Trump's own base, MAGA.
00:15Do not like this.
00:15This goes against everything Donald Trump stood for.
00:18So he's been keen to wrap this up, not least,
00:21because, of course, the World Cup is now dominating the headlines.
00:25And the idea that this issue goes unresolved is something that Donald Trump really wants to draw a line under.
00:32So he wants a deal more so than, I think, the Iranians,
00:36who are determined to claim a victory out of this just by standing up to a world superpower.
00:43So the details are there.
00:45But as I say, I fear that this is all being kicked into the long grass.
00:50The difficult questions are for another time, not for today.
00:55This is about getting the straits open.
00:56And from that perspective, it will be a good thing if we can see the boats and the ships being
01:01able to transit safely.
01:02But again, another question, who's actually going to do the patrolling?
01:06The G7 summit that is taking place now off the Lake of Geneva,
01:10it's the Europeans that are being asked to come forward with their navies to do that patrolling.
01:15I can't see that happening either.
01:17So, as you say, some very, very complex questions that remain unanswered.
