06:23how he got to that size.

07:07And you go into cardiac arrest and you get carried out from your little workout on a stretcher with some,

07:13you know, pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking digestive system.

07:18It's really unfortunate if it ends that way.

07:24I actually think that we ate more than a pound of beef.

07:27Because a pound of beef only has, I think, 84 grams of protein.

07:31And you need a solid 200 for our size and shape.

07:35So sometimes I can eat two pounds of ground beef a day.

07:38Plus like 10 eggs.

07:40And so many salads. I was having so much salad.

07:42Because by the end I got like gained 10 pounds.

07:45So like when I started shooting, I was like, and by the end I was like 10 pounds heavier.

07:49And it was because of ground beef.

07:53I'm glad that we had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if, you know,

07:57we were going back to our-

07:5912 hour days and then the gym.

08:00And then like going back to our residence like alone.

08:02It's really, it's nice that I got to be like, hi son, let's go to gym.

08:07And we would go from a fucking 11 hour day skating lesson and Connor would go, let's do legs.

08:13And I looked him, he's a madman.

08:16He'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go, legs now?

08:24I knew I had a responsibility to the people.

08:37Did you feel any pressure bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the characters your

08:42own?

08:42It's good, I think, to go into a project accepting that, you know, people might be disappointed, especially with something

08:50like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions.

08:52They've envisioned, they've envisioned these characters, they've drawn these characters, they've gotten tattoos of these characters.

08:58Like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed.

09:03All you can do is, is read the material as much as you possibly can.

09:09Yeah.

09:09And, and respect it, show the respect, show the dedication, and just hope that people, you know, connect with it

09:18and love it and see that enthusiasm.

09:20I think we both had that level of, whether you want to call it nihilism or not, like, people might

09:25just hate this.

09:26People might hate your casting or they might hate my casting.

09:28I'm not going to expect anything more.

09:31And I'm just going to do the best I can.

09:33But you have really no metric of if people are going to be warm to your, your take.

09:39I really think at the end of the day, all you can do is be really intentional, give it a

09:44hundred and fifty percent.

09:45And I just go for it, you know.

09:48And luckily for us, this worked out really frickin' well.

10:16In the morning, I use water to cleanse my face.

10:20And then I put on a glow toner, but it's pretty dry.

10:31Like, go wipe that off and then come talk to me because I won't right now.

10:35And then, so my toner, and then I'll put on a serum and then sunscreen.

10:42And then sometimes instead of a serum, I put on a moisturizer.

10:45And then my PM routine is an oil cleanser, you know, to get out these blackheads to get the gunk

10:51out.

10:51And then I'll either use like a CeraVe normal ass cleanser or I'll use like a pore shrinking cleanser.

11:43What makes those stand out for you?

11:44My favorite spicy scene from Ember and Ice is actually a scene where Dane is with two former lovers, Cassandra

11:53and Elijah.

11:54Yep.

11:58I need you to, I need you to be here with me.

12:01Okay.

12:02Dane has an interaction with two of his former lovers after having been with Finn for some time.

12:11And yeah, not to spoil, but he ends up realizing that what really works for him isn't working for him

12:19anymore.

12:20And it's kind of this moment of identity loss and, you know, what, what pleases me isn't pleasing me the

12:26same.

12:27And I think that's really cool.

12:28Cause it's also, it's, cause it's cool cause it's like sexy and spicy, but it also is really revealing of

12:33the character and the connection and where he's at, you know?

12:36Um, and I think it's funny. I think I remember Dane saying something about, um, he's like, he's like, and

12:42then the next thing I did was I just had to come up with a, an excuse.

12:46And then he's like, he's like, my friends, I have bad news.

12:50I have a lot from Ember and Ice, but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in

12:56together and you kind of coax it out of me without spoiling too much.

12:59Um, I think that one's just, you know, a lot of times like the intimacy before intimacy, I think it

13:05has more of a charge in a way.

13:07Uh, that one really got me, um, frothing at the mouth and heated rivalry, favorite intimate scene.

13:15There was one that was really fun to film. Do you remember filming the stair step scene when we're like

13:19kissing against the glass and our lips never come apart.

13:23Me and you were like, do people do this? Do people?

13:26I know it's always a fun balance. Right. Of like when you're filming, um, separate from like the audio space

13:32when you're filming, it's like how much of it is fun TV.

13:38And then how much of it is like, is like true sex. Cause at the end of the day, you

13:42know, you do have in real life, people do have those, those like movie moments where you're like, you know,

13:47you're like, yeah, yeah.

13:49And then everyone on set was like, oh yeah, no, we, I've done that. And then Connor and I were

13:53like, oh, we usually fold our clothes, place them down, then go upstairs naked and go sex now.

14:01Sex now? I'm robot. Plug me in.

14:05True or false. Hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many times he flashed them. Do you know?

14:13How many times? I know that you, I've, yeah, I remember this.

15:18So I had one where I would get pants low, like I would de-pants and she would be unassuming,

15:24like maybe on her phone on the couch and I would run by and jump in the air.

17:16On both Heated Rivalry and Ember and Ice, you worked with an intimacy coordinator.

17:20Um, why do you think that role matters on projects like this?

17:23Was there anything about the process that you think would surprise people?

17:27Wow.

17:27I mean, I think it's so, um, yeah, that's a, yeah, that question is, I mean, it's so important.

17:34I mean, you, you literally can't do things without that role.

17:40Um, the thing that I think would shock people about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about,

17:47and this is what I learned from Chayla originally and then also Jamie doing this.

17:51It's not just about the actual safety, the boundaries, monitoring what's going on, what that looks like, making sure everyone's

17:59okay.

17:59There's also actually a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are, like Jamie with this, you know, was also

18:08the voice that was reminding us, this is how long it's been since this happened.

18:12And, you know, you need to, I need to hear that shiver or that I need to hear those, um,

18:18I need to hear that feeling through your wings.

18:21I need to see that come about. I need to feel that pleasure in this way.

18:25So it's not always technical, even though that's what I feel like is brought up a lot. There is also

18:29an artistic sensibility to that job and that really promotes that conversation.

22:27overlap of movies we liked, actors we liked, art we liked, and similar approaches to how we, you know, like

22:34to perform, that I immediately knew.

22:37I think we clicked there.

22:38And I think that's saying a lot, because I think some of our, our interests can be pretty niche.

22:43The fact that there is overlap is amazing.

22:45Yeah.

22:46And favorite memories, I would say, all our laughs on set, being in Muskoka, um, was really beautiful.

22:54There was a lot of like lounging around, um, you know, it was just great.

22:59My favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs.

23:03What's, what's like an inside joke that we just died over the whole time?

23:08Um, we had a storm the set.

23:11That was also with me.

23:15But if we couldn't afford extras, our idea was we would just like, do like a cattle call.

23:21We used to joke that like we, um, cause we would have like airport scenes and stuff where there would

23:30And I just imagined, um, I imagined Jacob being like, being like, costumes, get up there!

23:36And everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like, storm the set!

23:44How does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement?

23:49I can't, I honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this, you know?

24:29So what drew you to doing a Fey Romantic story and what was it about the script that hooked you?

24:34For me, it was exploring sensuality with, with your voice.

24:39You know, that's the only tool you have and it kind of scared me a little bit.

24:44And, you know, there, there, it was a really fun way to explore yourself.

24:48It was fun.

24:48It was actually fun.

24:49And, you know, it's very demanding and it's, it's well written.

24:52I think in the booth, the term winged Hemingway came up, you know, fantastical Hemingway.

25:02Cause there was like war, there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed,

25:08uh, in a lot of ways.

25:10Um, and that was way heavier than I thought, you know, this would look like.

25:15And it was really rewarding.

25:17Mm-hmm.

25:18I, the story just moves really well too.

25:20Um, it was just written really well, uh, as someone who, you know, is not a big reader.

25:27I think something like this would be really appealing to me.

25:30Um, just the way it, it cycles through the feelings.

25:33It cycles through the years and point of view.

25:36I just think it's really like almost physically well done.

25:39Um, why do you think MM romance resonates so strongly with women right now?

25:44Hmm.

25:46Yeah.

25:47We've, we've, we've both talked about this and kind of been intrigued by it.

25:50There's so many reasons.

25:51There's so many reasons.

25:52And then even just women, you know, there are straight women, there are trans women,

25:57there are, um, gay women, like queer women.

26:00And it's, it's, um, well, that feels like a giant term to be like, I know exactly why.

26:06Um, you know, there's like the element of, you can live vicariously and you can feel safe.

26:10Um, like with women, this is just one opinion that I had never even considered or thought

26:16of, um, that I saw that I think you're alluding to, which is if you are female, um, and you

26:22are, you were taken out of the equation, there's, and you're, you're, there's a spectatorship

26:31to that.

26:32There's like a, there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety, you know,

26:37like especially women, um, historically being put into a box in a certain way, especially

26:42when it comes to sex and pleasure.

26:44Right.

26:44It feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived out without, um, the female

26:51dynamic being involved.

26:52Yeah.

26:53I, I heard, I heard someone online say, a woman say that like, when you see like a hetero,

26:57um, couple, you know, you default to like relating with, or forced to sort of relate with

27:04a woman character.

27:05Um, and then that comes with a lot of restriction and too, and like imagination.

27:09A lot of writers, you know, are writing very conventionally, um, which means a lot of outdated

27:14tropes, um, old archetypes.

27:16And I think, you know, with getting to watch two men, it's like, they can kind of relate

27:21with this person.

27:21In one moment they're empathetic to this person.

27:23They're not forced into a box of here.

27:25This is your person to relate with.

27:27Mm-hmm.

27:27At the end of the day though, we're both men.

27:29I have no idea what it's like to be a woman.

27:32Um, yeah.
