00:00This is the rotunda.
00:10Hello, everybody.
00:11Hello.
00:11How are you?
00:12Hello.
00:13Bienvenue à tous.
00:16Maybe actually, Mr. President?
00:17Yeah.
00:23Merci beaucoup.
00:23So I want to congratulate the President.
00:26Last night, Cyril Ghosn won the fight against a great fighter,
00:33supposed to be unbeatable,
00:36and Cyril is from France.
00:39Did you watch the fight?
00:40Yeah.
00:41Nothing direct, but I saw it this morning.
00:44That was a great fight.
00:45It was a great evening at the White House.
00:46I was very proud, Cyril.
00:48Okay.
00:49Please.
00:50Bienvenue au président.
00:52I would say a few words in French.
00:54Monsieur le Président,
00:56je souhaitais d'abord accueillir
01:49I wanted to say, I mean,
01:53to commande President Trump
01:54for celebration yesterday
01:55and to welcome President Trump
01:57and the ministers and his team
01:59for being here in Evian for the G7.
02:02I think yesterday was signed
02:04a very important agreement,
02:07a peace deal with Iran.
02:08And it's a very important one
02:10because first it will fix the nuclear issue.
02:14And it's a very important matter for peace
02:18for the whole world.
02:19And it will reopen almost.
02:22It will provide peace in Lebanon.
02:24And so we are ready to take our fair share
02:27of the burden and be part of the commitment
02:30of the international community
02:32in order to support this deal.
02:33And we will discuss about that together
02:36and with colleagues later on.
02:37But it's a very important step towards peace,
02:41but as well for global economy.
02:43We will have the occasion to discuss about
02:46the war in Ukraine in order to re-engage together
02:49and negotiate a good and solid peace
02:51and sustainable peace.
02:52And President Zelenskyy will be with us as well tomorrow.
02:55And obviously we will have the occasion
02:57to bring this G7 to speak about a series of issues
03:00from rare earths, critical minerals, trade, et cetera,
03:04where we have to build convergence
03:06among the G7 members.
03:08And it will be the occasion for us to celebrate
03:12the 250 years of independence for the U.S.
03:18And Versailles is a good place because this is where
03:20the king and his minister of foreign affairs at the time
03:24did support the U.S. during years,
03:27but as well prepared what we call the Paris Triti in 1783,
03:33which was, I mean, the final point of this war.
03:37So it's a great honor and a great pleasure to have you,
03:40Mr. President, in Evian and Versailles.
03:42Thank you. Thank you.
03:45So, Emmanuel has been a special friend of mine.
03:49We've had a fantastic relationship.
03:52We've worked on many deals together.
03:54I'm very happy to say very signed.
03:59The deal's all signed.
04:01And the strain is already partially opened.
04:03As you know, they're doing a little hunting
04:06for a couple of mines that they've already found.
04:11But it's essentially ships are starting to go out now.
04:15On Friday, it'll be completely opened.
04:17We got along very well with Iran.
04:20It's a different set of leaders.
04:22As you know, the first set is gone.
04:24The second set is gone.
04:25And we found the third set to be very smart, strong,
04:29very smart.
04:30But we ended up making a deal.
04:34I felt badly that we had to go back on the attack for two nights.
04:37And I thought a third, but we made it before that happened.
04:42But I think a lot of great things are going to happen in the Middle East right now.
04:46And very importantly, the oil is plummeting down.
04:49And the stock market is shooting up like a rocket today.
04:54Like record kind of numbers.
04:57And the oil has taken its biggest plunge.
05:00And we're into the low numbers.
05:03Not quite back yet, Kevin, to the extent.
05:07But we're getting close to the numbers we were before it all started.
05:11And the main thing is that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.
05:14They fully agree to that with strong policing powers.
05:18And they won't have a nuclear weapon, which is what it was all about.
05:22Because they probably would have used it if they had it.
05:26So we had two big moments.
05:28When I terminated the JCPOA, that was the Obama deal.
05:32The Barack Hussein Obama deal.
05:35And when I terminated that, it was very important.
05:37Because it was a road to a nuclear weapon.
05:40It was a horrible deal for the United States.
05:42It was a deal where billions of dollars was given to Iran.
05:47It was a deal where 1.7 billion in cash was put on a Boeing 7...
05:54Well, not a 7-7, 57, I guess, right?
05:57But it was put on a big, beautiful Boeing 757.
06:01They needed a Boeing 747, to be honest with you, because it was a lot of cash.
06:061.7 billion was taken out of the banks and given to Iran.
06:10And on top of that, tens of billions of dollars was spent.
06:14So they tried to bribe them to make a deal.
06:18And that didn't work.
06:18It never works.
06:21And we've done a great job.
06:24And hopefully it's going to be a good relationship.
06:26And we're going to get along.
06:28And if we don't, we go back to where we started.
06:31But I don't think that's going to be necessary.
06:35The Iran deal that we made is going to bring a lot of success to the world.
06:41Because the oil was really clogged up there for a while.
06:44He would call me on occasion and say, come on, please, let's go to the oil prices.
06:49But the oil is coming way down.
06:51So I'm very honored by it.
06:53I want to thank you for your help.
06:54You've always been a help.
06:56And it's an honor to be with you.
06:58We had a very good conversation yesterday with President Zelensky and President Putin.
07:06And I see maybe we can do something there.
07:10I really do.
07:10I think they're both open to it.
07:12So now that this is finished, we're going to be focusing on that.
07:17See if we can get that one done.
07:1925,000 people a month are dying, mostly soldiers.
07:23And that shouldn't happen.
07:24But I had two very good conversations yesterday.
07:27We'll be talking about it.
07:29And we had a really exciting, I think maybe one of the most incredible evenings in the history.
07:35of the White House.
07:36We had an evening last night with the fighters.
07:39And I was very happy.
07:41I called last night, very late last night, to congratulate you.
07:45Because in the heavyweight division, a French fighter won.
07:49I don't know.
07:49Is that maybe more important than the World Cup?
07:52To some people it might be.
07:54To some people it might be.
07:55You have a good team in the world.
07:57Yeah.
07:57Very good team.
07:58But you have good fighters too.
08:00And you're a great country.
08:02And it's an honor to be with you.
08:04Thank you very much.
08:05Hey, sir, are you going to try to attend the signing ceremony on Friday?
08:10Well, it depends.
08:12J.D.'s coming in for it.
08:13He was originally going to do it.
08:14I'll probably be gone by then.
08:16We're having dinner in a day and a half, right?
08:20We're going to be staying quite late.
08:22So I may be involved.
08:25I may not.
08:26But J.D. was coming in for that specifically.
08:29Mr. President, when will the text of the MOU be released?
08:34I think pretty soon.
08:35I would say, I mean, I want it to be released because it's a very powerful document.
08:40It's not like the Obama document, which was just a terrible document.
08:46This is a very powerful document.
08:48And I want it to be released.
08:49So probably pretty soon.
08:51I would say after sometime after Friday, because the straight opens completely.
08:57It's open now, but it opens completely.
09:00We'll have all the mines knocked out for the most part.
09:03We have a lot of lanes right now already.
09:05Mr. President.
09:06So I think sometime, I think sometime in the very near future.
09:12Mr. President, does the deal involve any sanctions, really, for Iran?
09:16When would that go into effect?
09:17No, it doesn't.
09:18Well, they have to.
09:19It's really a behavioral thing.
09:21If they do what they're supposed to do, that starts taking effect.
09:27Mr. President, what do you expect?
09:37Well, I would love them to do that.
09:40I don't think we're going to need much help because we have an agreement where it's going to be open.
09:44And it's toll free.
09:46We had a little argument on that.
09:48It's toll free.
09:49So I don't think we're going to need much help.
09:51But I don't think it's a bad idea to have a ship or two up here from a few countries.
09:56You'd be a great country to do it because you never know what happens.
09:59But I think it's going to be open and I think it's going to be free sailing.
10:04We do want to see if we can straighten out the Lebanon thing because it just seems to just never
10:11end.
10:12And that's a mini version of what we were doing.
10:15But and it should not be tough.
10:17It should not be tough.
10:18So Hezbollah, we have to we have to have a little talk with them.
10:23I just wanted to respond in French to the question who was asked in French.
10:30Sur the contribution, we are ready to have,
10:34dès demain,
11:46Merci beaucoup.
12:01Merci, merci.
12:02Merci.
12:03Merci.
