00:00Just get your overall thoughts on your experience this week and just how the the entire fight played out
00:06Oh, it's really hard to put it into words right now. I mean just trying to enjoy this moment, and
00:10yeah, it was such a crazy ride
00:13We had a lot of delays a couple of the like the rehearsal delayed tonight delayed, but yeah, I just
00:20You know these are the again. I wouldn't recommend this to my enemy
00:23We are some of the toughest people on this earth mentally physically all these guys up here and all the
00:29guys that lost tonight
00:31We and me specifically I've said it from day one. I'm a promoter's wet dream
00:36And I proved that tonight and you know you gave him all the respect in terms of like his skill
00:41set in there
00:42You know I said probably the second best guy you prepared for outside of Habib
00:45But now that you're through Ilya was he as good as he thought he was was he better than you
00:49thought he was just
00:50Can you talk about what you experienced in there with him? I mean, yeah, he's very good. I mean my
00:55liver still hurts right now
00:56um, those body shots were crazy. I mean, he was really really fast, but
01:01You know, um
01:02When he didn't get the finish at the end of the second round, I think it really took took his
01:06spirit
01:06And you know again, I said it in the press conference leading up was like he really backed himself into
01:11a corner saying he's gonna be so dominant
01:13And I said it when we go to the second round you're gonna be like what the fuck when we
01:18go to the third round
01:18You're gonna be like what the fucking you know
01:20That's that's what I did tonight
01:22Did you feel he was broken after he didn't get that finish?
01:25I never felt he was broken because he was so dangerous at all at the whole time
01:29But in the third round when I started landing those jabs when he started finding his back foot I knew
01:33Something was different and you got to introduce your family to the president and the first lady. How was that
01:39experience?
01:40Yeah, it was it was incredible. I mean coming from such a small town
01:42I can't tell you how how blessed I am
01:44To have made it this far to have represented my my small town, you know as well as I have
01:50And then now I get to represent my country as a whole and I think I did a pretty good
01:53job tonight
01:54My mom's dream was to meet Melania and she got to meet her. So I'm happy for her
02:00You weren't gonna make a retirement decision and you promised your mother I guess what is gonna go into in
02:06these weeks months
02:07Making the decision on what your future looks like
02:10I said I wouldn't even talk about it to her. I promised her so i'm gonna enjoy this win
02:15And then and speaking of enjoying the wind does you know the setbacks you have leading into this the the
02:21failed opportunities at that
02:22Undisputed belt just make this moment even sweeter
02:26Absolutely, I think um those experiences are why I fought so perfect tonight and then
02:31The max hallway knockout is what makes this win so much more special. I was counted out so bad
02:38Um, I've been 16 fights
02:40I've been an underdog at least 11 or 12 times in the ufc every single fight almost so
02:46And i'm nine and two as an underdog. So I love being in this position
02:51This sport has given us many wonderful stories over the years many fighters
02:56Of course, you're biased about this but and but is this like the most beautiful story possible you fighting a
03:03proud american winning on the white house south lawn
03:06Against an undefeated fighter. Is it the best possible story this part has ever written?
03:11I think so. Yeah, I've been a huge fan of this sport since 1992 when there was no rules
03:15Um, all the way to 2001 when they debuted the ultimate fighter
03:20And I have been a huge fan of this sport. I've watched every single buddy's every single athletes
03:24You know trajectory and career
03:27Throughout the way and yeah, I said before it's gonna be like some miracle on nice stuff
03:31And yeah, i'm so happy so happy to uh
03:34To put my country
03:37In such a good light. I am from the middle of nowhere here in southeast arizona and
03:43Yeah, I don't know america fuck. Yeah, let's go
03:47Justin when the uh, when the uh camera cut to you for the first time for your walkout
03:51I believe you were actually looking at a document of the declaration of independence
03:55um, can you just talk about what what those moments were like when you're standing the oval office?
03:59Yeah
03:59I mean seeing all the portraits of many many great presidents that we've had in the past. It was it
04:05was incredible
04:05um
04:06That was that part. I remember usually I kind of blank out when it comes to getting ready to walk
04:12to the cage, but
04:13Yeah, it was pretty crazy looking at the declaration of independence the original the original one and
04:19Their language was different. I'm not smart enough to read that
04:22I gotta ask you maybe
04:23Yeah, it was it was it was really cool seeing all the portraits of the presidents and then I was
04:27in a
04:28Holding room and there was more portraits of amazing men of the past and yeah
04:33I was just like I have to dig deep. I have to represent these people
04:37um
04:37I have to I have to do it
04:39Maybe there will be nothing to this
04:41But uh, it couldn't help across my mind that when you got hurt by body shots in the biggest fight
04:45of your life
04:45That you're a guy who has paid sparring partners to try to drop you with body shots in the gym
04:50Yeah, is there any significance to that or anything?
04:52He would have made a thousand dollars off of me tonight if that was the case
04:55Yeah, I mean it still hurts right now that hurts my hand hurts my jaw hurts
04:59He is a formidable opponent. He was so good and so dangerous and I never really got to
05:05I didn't see him quit. I don't you know
05:07I saw them almost stopped around and fight at the end of the third round. I was like no way
05:11and then um
05:13He's back out there and
05:15Back to being dangerous. So yeah, it was this is a crazy sport. I love it
