00:00Colombia, one of the favorites going in, was eliminated in the first round.
00:03The team returned home on Wednesday to anonymous threats, threats that were carried out.
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most insane and shocking moments connected to FIFA
00:13World Cups,
00:14including on-pitch incidents, controversial match events, and major aftermath stories tied directly to the international football tournament.
00:21Can you give us any insight into what happened last night?
00:25Nope.
00:27Number 30. Opening Fail.
00:29The United States of America, warmly welcomes you to World Cup USA, 1994!
00:42Imagine being handed the biggest ceremonial spotlight in sports history, and then missing the target in front of the whole
00:48world. Yikes.
00:49At the 1994 World Cup opening ceremony in the U.S., legendary musician Diana Ross was supposed to deliver a
00:55grand celebratory penalty into the goal as part of the festivities.
00:59It was sort of like scoring the tournament's first goal. Instead, Ross fired the ball hilariously wide as the goalkeeper
01:06did his best to make it look dramatic.
01:13The goal falling apart as it sailed wide was the icing on the icing on the cringe cake.
01:18Unfortunately for Ross, millions saw the debacle as it was beamed into their homes, turning it into a piece of
01:24footballing lore.
01:29Nothing says smooth preparation like sacking your coach right before a World Cup.
01:34Spain's 2018 campaign was rocked when Julen Lopetegui was abruptly dismissed after it was announced he had agreed to take
01:40the Real Madrid job after the tournament.
01:43Julen Lopetegui sacked from the Spanish national team.
01:47That's just a day after he officialized a deal with Real Madrid.
01:53The timing was jaw-dropping. For two years, he had built the team.
01:57The players were stunned by the sudden news, and the whole situation instantly became a soap opera with studs.
02:03Apenas cinco minutos antes de una nota de prensa. Y bueno, pues, tiene que haber un mensaje claro.
02:09One of Spain's greatest defenders, Fernando Hierro, was handed the reins of getting his nation through the World Cup, despite
02:15having limited managerial experience.
02:17He managed to get Spain through the group stage, just before being knocked out by Russia on penalties in the
02:22round of 16.
02:26Akinfeib saves! It is Russia's party, and the party goes on!
02:34Number 28. Questionable Penalty
02:36In 2014, Mexico was taking on the 2010 World Cup runner-ups, the Netherlands, in the round of 16.
02:42After taking the lead thanks to Giovanni Dos Santos, the Dutch managed to equalize with Vesely Snyder.
02:48Got it wrong, but might get away with it. Snyder!
02:51One-one!
02:54Yet in the dying seconds, it got super dramatic.
02:57Arjen Robben darted into the box before he went down dramatically after a challenge from Mexico's captain, Rafael Márquez.
03:03Oh, he's done brilliantly, goes down, penalty!
03:06In a decision that's still debated today, the referee awarded a late penalty that Klaasjan Hüntelar converted, sending the Dutch
03:13through.
03:14Hüntelar against Ochoa for a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Hüntelar scores!
03:22Was there contact on Robben? Sure.
03:25Was there also theatrical flair worthy of a stage play? Absolutely.
03:29The outrage was immediate, the slow-motion replays were dissected endlessly, and fans were split right down the middle.
03:36No, six months later, was it a penalty?
03:38Yep.
03:39Number 27. The Saipan Incident
03:41Some World Cup drama happens on the field.
03:44This one detonated before the Republic of Ireland even got there.
03:47During the build-up to the 2002 tournament, the team's captain, Roy Keane, and manager, Mick McCarthy, clashed in what
03:53became known as the Saipan Incident after the team's training camp location.
03:58When we come over here, we travel halfway across the world, and the training pitch is a disgrace.
04:02Keane criticized the setup and preparation when talking to the press, leading to McCarthy confronting the midfielder at a team
04:08meeting.
04:09From there, the situation escalated into a full-blown national scandal as Keane unleashed a verbal tirade.
04:15Unsurprisingly, the Manchester United legend was sent home, and Ireland's campaign was forever overshadowed by the fallout.
04:22Had Keane been restored, it's now clear that manager Mick McCarthy would have resigned, and a total shambles ensued.
04:27Keane didn't return to international football until 2004, after McCarthy had been replaced as Ireland's manager.
04:34Roy Keane's international footballing exile has come to an end.
04:37The Manchester United captain was back in the Republic of Ireland's colors for tonight's friendly...
04:42Number 26. The Saudi Arabian Upset
04:45If you want proof that the World Cup can still erase all logic, look no further than Saudi Arabia's opening
04:51group game against Argentina at the 2022 tournament.
04:54The South Americans came in as one of the favorites to lift the famous trophy, with a massive 36-game
04:59unbeaten run that went back to 2019.
05:02Then, Saudi Arabia spectacularly flipped the script.
05:05Now an opportunity for Saudi Arabia, and it is taken!
05:10After they went behind to an early Lionel Messi penalty, the Saudis recovered in the second half, stunning the football
05:16world with a 2-1 victory.
05:18From Noah Al-Abit.
05:21Oh, and that's a brilliant effort!
05:23While Argentina went on to win the tournament, and Saudi Arabia didn't get out of the group, fans of the
05:28Green Falcons will live on that result for eternity.
05:31A group stage starts beyond Saudi Arabia's wildest dreams!
05:36Number 25. Caught short.
05:38Most people have had a bathroom emergency at some point.
05:41But imagine having one at the most prestigious footballing tournament in the world, as you play in a rival match,
05:47as millions across the globe watch.
05:49Well, unfortunately for England's Gary Lineker, that is exactly what happened when his nation battled the Republic of Ireland at
05:56their opening group game at the 1990 World Cup.
05:58After he'd put England ahead, the legendary striker was brought down.
06:02The aftermath seemed uneventful at the time.
06:05And it's just gone poof, right?
06:08And I've gone, oh my god.
06:10With hindsight, it is intense.
06:12And gross.
06:13While rumors had existed ever since, Lineker eventually admitted and embraced that he had stomach issues.
06:19According to him, he was up most of the night with tummy troubles, and hadn't told anyone so he could
06:24play.
06:25This is one of the best stories of the time.
06:29Number 24. Martinez Mayhem.
06:31When a goalkeeper has performed exceptionally and overshadowed every positional rival during a World Cup, they get awarded the Golden
06:38Glove.
06:41So, with Argentina winning the 2022 tournament with the heavy aid of Emiliano Martinez, he was awarded the prize.
06:48Yet, rather than get the trophy and humbly wave to the crowd, the keeper with his trademark behavior went with
06:54a different approach.
06:55In a photo that quickly spread over the internet, Martinez placed the gloved trophy near his crotch as he made
07:00an exaggerated facial expression, as a football official watched stony-faced.
07:05Seen by many as a rude gesture, especially during a prestigious event, Martinez's Aston Villa manager Unai Emery planned to
07:12speak to the goalkeeper upon his return.
07:15Whoa.
07:15And in 2022, the world champions are Argentina.
07:22Number 23. Save of the Century.
07:25Before video clips could be replayed from every angle online, Gordon Banks pulled off a stop so stunning it became
07:31eternal.
07:32In 1970, he was between the sticks for the defending champions England as they faced Pelé's Brazil in the group
07:37stage.
07:38Facing severe pressure from the Brazilians, Banks made what is still often called the save of the century.
07:43When he headed it, he headed it like all coaches tell for us, and that's down on the floor, which
07:49makes it more difficult for the goalkeeper.
07:51Receiving a cross into the box, Pelé leapt into the air as though he was going to score a cannonball
07:56of a header.
07:57I had to dive across and cover the actual speed and direction of the ball.
08:02The legendary forward was so sure it was going in that he was already preparing to celebrate.
08:07Then, Banks got from one side of the goal to the other at lightning speed and somehow dived to push
08:12the ball wide.
08:14Incredible.
08:15But Pelé actually shouted goal as he headed it because he thought that it would finish up in the back
08:21of the net.
08:22Number 22. The Peace Prize.
08:24Only FIFA could turn a World Cup draw into a scandal.
08:27In 2025, the leaders of the tournament's co-hosts, Mexico, Canada and the US, were invited to be involved in
08:34the draw for the 2026 World Cup.
08:36But when you think about it, shouldn't it really be called?
08:39I mean, this is football, there's no question about it.
08:41We have to come up with another name for that.
08:44Yeah! Yeah!
08:45It really doesn't make sense.
08:47Yet there was a special and bizarre celebration for one in particular.
08:51During the event, instead of the international tournament being the focal point,
08:54FIFA President Gianni Infantino used the platform to announce US President Donald Trump
08:58as the inaugural recipient of the FIFA Peace Prize.
09:01Prize, this is your peace prize.
09:03There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.
09:12Immediately, many in the footballing world were baffled by the decision,
09:16especially when FIFA was accused of breaking its political neutrality rule,
09:20which Infantino has faced multiple times due to his relationship with Trump.
09:24The United States, one year ago, was not doing too well.
09:27And now I have to say, we're the hottest country anywhere in the world,
09:31that we're going to keep it that way.
09:32Number 21. The Big Upset
09:34In the first World Cup since World War II put the competition on hiatus,
09:38Uruguay, who won the inaugural tournament in 1930,
09:42faced off against the favorites Brazil.
09:44At the time, the winner was determined by a final league table rather than a one-off match.
09:49All Brazil had to do was avoid defeat, and the host country would be world champions.
09:54And all that was going to plan when Friassa opened the scoring.
09:58But then, a goal by Uruguay's Juan Alberto Schiaffino leveled things up.
10:02Uh-oh.
10:03To make it worse for the Brazilians,
10:05Alchides Guilla fired it in to give the underdogs the win.
10:09That was the lowest point in Brazilian football history.
10:12Number 20. The Disgrace of Gijon
10:14In the 1982 World Cup in Spain,
10:17if West Germany beat Austria by at most two goals in the final game of Group 2,
10:22both teams would qualify, while Algeria would be knocked out.
10:25Well, West Germany won 1-0,
10:28but it was the performance of both teams that concerned everyone.
10:31As soon as the first goal was scored,
10:33West Germany just passed the ball among themselves,
10:36not bothering to attack,
10:37while Austria barely put in any effort.
10:40Everyone watching was livid,
10:42and the teams were accused of match-fixing.
10:45FIFA investigated, but found no rules had been broken.
10:48However, they changed the rules so that the final games of group matches
10:52would be played at the same time to avoid a similar situation.
10:56Number 19. French Fallout
10:58Tensions between France's manager Raymond Dominic
11:01and the players during the 2010 World Cup erupted most spectacularly.
11:05At halftime of their group game against Mexico,
11:08France was losing.
11:10Nicolas Anelka got into a heated argument with Dominic in the changing rooms,
11:14causing the striker to be sent home from the tournament when he refused to apologize.
11:18Well, his teammates were not happy, so they went on strike.
11:21After an intervention from then-president Nicolas Sarkozy,
11:25the players returned to work.
11:26However, France failed to progress from the group as they finished last.
11:31There are several parties who are responsible for this disaster,
11:34and I measure my words.
11:35Disaster, which is what I continue to call it.
11:38Number 18. The Wink
11:40Look at this.
11:41Look at that.
11:42Is he just winked there?
11:43For the 2006 World Cup quarterfinal,
11:46England was set to face Portugal.
11:47This meant Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo
11:50would be taking on some of his teammates like Wayne Rooney.
11:53As the English forward got into a tussle with Ricardo Carvalho,
11:56the defender went down,
11:58and Rooney accidentally stamped on Carvalho.
12:00Immediately, Ronaldo and the Portuguese players bombarded the referee to take action.
12:06And it worked.
12:07Furious, Rooney pushed one of the players, who just so happened to be Ronaldo.
12:11And he was immediately sent off.
12:14As Ronaldo walked off, he winked to the bench.
12:17Mission accomplished.
12:18Ronaldo claims he never intended for Rooney to be sent off,
12:22only to get the foul.
12:23Number 17.
12:25The Battle of Nuremberg
12:26Usually, names involving the word battle are typically used for a military skirmish.
12:31But in this case,
12:32it's the round of 16 match between Portugal and the Netherlands at the 2006 World Cup.
12:36It was one of the most violent games of football in World Cup history.
12:41A massive 16 yellows were issued,
12:43the first coming in the second minute.
12:45On top of this,
12:47four red cards were issued.
12:49It really overshadowed Portugal's 1-0 win.
12:52It was a record-breaking mix of nasty fouls,
12:56playground play acting,
12:58and a card-happy Russian ref.
13:01Number 16.
13:02Ilunga has had enough.
13:03For the 1974 tournament,
13:06Zaire, now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo,
13:09was making its debut on the world stage.
13:11And they were in a tough group.
13:13After losing 2-0 to Scotland and 9-0 to Yugoslavia,
13:17they faced Brazil in the final game,
13:20in which they lost 3-0.
13:21But during it,
13:22as a free kick was set to be taken by the South Americans,
13:26defender Mwepu Ilunga sprinted from the wall and booted the ball up the pitch,
13:30clearly breaking the rules.
13:32As such, he was booked.
13:33While many found his apparent lack of knowledge amusing,
13:36there was more going on.
13:38Ilunga stated that he was hoping to be sent off as a protest against his nation
13:42for withholding the player's earnings.
13:44Number 15.
13:45Spit Frenzy.
13:46During a match against West Germany,
13:48the Netherlands' Frank Reichardt wiped out striker Rudi Voller,
13:51earning himself a yellow card.
13:53He responded by spitting at the back of Voller's head.
13:56Lovely.
13:57It was just one of the most disgusting things I think that's ever been caught on camera.
14:02When the German complained,
14:03he was booked.
14:05Then, less than a minute later,
14:07Voller committed a handball to avoid colliding with the Dutch goalkeeper.
14:10After a tussle involving Reichardt and Voller,
14:13both players were shown a red card.
14:15Then,
14:15the Dutchman spat on the back of Voller's head once more as they left the pitch.
14:19Reichardt's side went on to lose 2-1.
14:22Number 14.
14:23The Wrath of the Shake.
14:24For the 1982 World Cup,
14:26Kuwait made its debut at the international tournament.
14:29But rather than be remembered for this historical event,
14:32something else comes to mind.
14:33As the team took on France in a Group 4 match,
14:36Sheikh Fahad El Ahmed Al-Jabbar El-Sabah,
14:39who was also president of the Kuwait Football Association,
14:42was watching.
14:43Late into the game,
14:44a whistle is heard in the stadium.
14:46While Kuwait's players stopped,
14:48France's Alain Giresse made it 4-1 to the Europeans.
14:51Well,
14:52Fahad was not having that.
14:53He went on to the pitch and demanded the referee disallow that goal,
14:57or his team would leave.
14:59For some reason,
15:00the ref ruled the goal out.
15:02Unfortunately for Fahad and Kuwait,
15:04Maxime Bossis scored,
15:05and the game finished 4-1.
15:08Number 13.
15:08The Battle of Santiago.
15:10On paper,
15:11this should have been a pretty standard match in Group 2 during the 1962 tournament.
15:15But thanks to the drama going on behind the scenes,
15:18with Italian journalists stirring the pot by criticizing Chile's capital, Santiago,
15:22tempers boiled over on the pitch.
15:24Even BBC broadcaster David Coleman introduced the game's highlights
15:28by describing it as the most,
15:29disgusting and disgraceful exhibition of football.
15:33Within 12 seconds after kickoff,
15:35there was already a foul.
15:37From there,
15:38Italy had two players sent off,
15:40with one being escorted off the pitch by the police.
15:43Well,
15:43that's one of the sorriest and most stupid,
15:47incredible spectacles I've ever seen anywhere in the world.
15:50The ref could have issued more red cards as players punched each other,
15:54with one even getting a broken nose.
15:57The 2-0 win for Chile was vastly overshadowed by the violence.
16:01The game is over.
16:03Ken Aston on his way to the dressing room.
16:06I don't think there's ever been a footballer match played like this in Chile,
16:09or indeed anywhere else in the world.
16:11Number 12.
16:12Givaldo's rehearsal.
16:13After his incredible performance at the 1998 tournament,
16:17expectations were high for Brazil's Givaldo in 2002.
16:20But in their first game in Group C against Turkey,
16:23he did his best to tarnish all that good faith.
16:26When Turkey's Hakan Unsal kicked the ball towards Givaldo,
16:29who was taking the corner,
16:30the ball seemingly struck him in the face,
16:32and he went down.
16:33Seeing this,
16:34the referee gave Unsal a second yellow,
16:37sending him off.
16:37But as the replay showed,
16:39Givaldo was hit on the leg,
16:41not the face.
16:42His acting turned him into the tournament's villain,
16:44as he was fined thousands of francs by FIFA for his poor behavior.
16:48What Givaldo has essentially done is taken a decision,
16:51he's going to try and get someone sent off in a World Cup,
16:53and just have no shame,
16:56no guilt,
16:57presumably.
16:57I've never spoken to Givaldo about it.
16:58He might be wrapped with guilt for all I know.
17:00Number 11.
17:01Goal of the century.
17:02In a game that's often remembered for one Diego Maradona moment,
17:06more on that later,
17:07this bit of magic is often overlooked.
17:09In the 1986 World Cup quarterfinal between Argentina and England,
17:13Maradona received the ball in his own half.
17:15He then went on a dribbling rampage,
17:18beating four England players,
17:19with Terry Butcher losing to him twice.
17:22Finding his way into the box,
17:23he dummied a shot,
17:25causing goalkeeper Peter Shilton to fall to the floor.
17:28This left the goal open for Maradona to place the ball into the empty net.
17:38The Napoli legend ran 60 yards in around 10 seconds,
17:42taking only 11 touches along the way.
17:44In 2002,
17:45this stunner was voted goal of the century by FIFA.
17:49The pitch was terrible.
17:50So how he did the things that he did on the way to scoring that goal
17:54were beyond belief,
17:55to be honest.
17:55It was a remarkable moment.
17:57Number 10.
17:58Karate kick.
17:59Taking on favorite Spain in the final,
18:01during the first half,
18:02the Netherlands' Nigel de Jong jumped up
18:04and struck Xabi Alonso in the chest with his studs.
18:07The Dutch midfielder should have seen a red card
18:09coming from referee Howard Webb's pocket.
18:11Instead,
18:12it was surprisingly yellow.
18:14According to Webb,
18:15he didn't have a clear view of the incident
18:17and didn't want to make a guess.
18:19But when he saw the replay later,
18:20he stated he should have sent off de Jong.
18:23Number 9.
18:23Final fiasco.
18:24If you ask England fans their most important footballing moment,
18:28most would likely point to this one,
18:31which took place at the 1966 final.
18:33With the score 2-2 in extra time against West Germany,
18:36Jeff Hurst's shot thundered off the bar before crossing the line.
18:40Or did it?
18:41The replays seem to suggest the whole ball didn't cross the line.
18:45As such,
18:45VAR would probably not have given the goal that motivated the team to win 4-2.
18:50Looking back,
18:51it seems like the whole ball didn't cross the line.
18:54Just before the game was over,
18:56Hurst completed his hat trick,
18:57securing the trophy for England by winning 4-2.
19:00People are on the pitch,
19:02they think it's all over.
19:04It is now.
19:05It's gone.
19:06Number 8.
19:07Dodgy calls.
19:08With the 2002 tournament being the first time that two nations had hosted it,
19:12that should have been the focal point for South Korea.
19:15Instead,
19:16bizarre occurrences on the pitch took people's attention,
19:19with accusations of match fixing.
19:21With South Korea against Italy in the round of 16,
19:24referee Byron Moreno appeared to have a vendetta against the Europeans.
19:28He was inconsistent when awarding penalties,
19:31disallowed rightful goals,
19:32and sent off Francesco Totti for diving,
19:35which didn't seem like the case.
19:37Then,
19:37against Spain in the next round,
19:39similar shenanigans happened with referee Gamal Al-Gandur.
19:42He was later accused of accepting a car from the Korean company Hyundai,
19:47which he denied.
19:48Number 7.
19:49Stand-In Keeper.
19:50At the 2010 tournament,
19:52Ghana had gotten to the quarterfinal against Uruguay.
19:54And boy,
19:55was it a battle.
19:56In the last minute of extra time,
19:58a goal-line scramble forced Luis Suarez to block one attempt.
20:02But when Dominic Adia headed the ball toward goal,
20:04Suarez got in the way again,
20:06but this time with his hands.
20:08A big no-no.
20:09He was sent off,
20:10and a penalty was given.
20:11However,
20:12Asamoa Jan missed.
20:14The match then went to penalties,
20:15which Uruguay won.
20:17Even 10 years after the incident,
20:19players from Ghana still won't forgive Suarez.
20:22Number 6.
20:23Hammering the hosts.
20:24Brazil are being humiliated,
20:27humbled,
20:28and taken apart,
20:30and their supporters simply cannot believe what they have seen.
20:34In 2014,
20:35fans were foaming at the mouth to watch two great teams,
20:39Brazil and Germany,
20:40battle it out in the semifinal.
20:41While the host nation had lost Neymar to a fractured vertebra,
20:44and Thiago Silva,
20:46who was serving a suspension,
20:47a hard,
20:48tough match was expected.
20:50But that's not what we got.
20:51Instead,
20:52we witnessed one of the most shocking matches in World Cup history.
20:56Germany tore the South Americans apart with their superior finishing.
20:59Even though they had fewer shots and less time of possession than Brazil,
21:03Germany still won by a massive 7-1.
21:06The result was the biggest margin of defeat in a World Cup semifinal.
21:10Number 5.
21:11Chomping Chiellini.
21:13Uruguay took on Italy in the final game of Group D.
21:16The South Americans needed to win to progress.
21:18In the second half,
21:20Suarez tangled with Giorgio Chiellini,
21:22causing the then Liverpool player to bite the defender.
21:26It looks to me,
21:28there I say it,
21:29that he's had a little bite at Chiellini.
21:31Surely not again.
21:32While he was able to get away with it during the match,
21:35FIFA later took action.
21:37Suarez was banned for nine international games,
21:39and anything football-related for four months.
21:42This was the biggest punishment in World Cup history.
21:45The sentence was harsher,
21:47since this was the third time Suarez had gone all Dracula on an opponent.
21:51The player Luis Suarez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity,
21:56administrative, sport, or any other,
21:59for a period of four months in accordance with Article 22 of the FIFA disciplinary code.
22:06Number 4.
22:07The Hand of God.
22:08Since we mentioned an infamous Maradona moment in the 1986 quarterfinal match against England earlier,
22:14here we are.
22:14With the score nil-nil,
22:16a botched clearance by Steve Hodge forced the ball to sail toward the England goal.
22:20As keeper Peter Shulton ran to get it,
22:23he was beaten to it by the smaller Maradona,
22:25and the ball rolled into the net.
22:27The English players screamed for handball.
22:29Everyone had seen the infringement,
22:31except Tunisian referee Berakura.
22:34As Argentina celebrated,
22:36England protested.
22:38But still,
22:38the goal was given.
22:40Replays showed that Maradona had clearly knocked the ball in with his hand.
22:43Maradona would later admit that he did indeed hit it with his hand.
22:47It was my hand.
22:49With this,
22:50I don't mean any disrespect to English fans.
22:55But this is something that happens.
22:57Number 3.
22:58Goalkeeper's Assault.
22:59With the score won all between West Germany and France in the 1982 World Cup semifinal,
23:05Patrick Battiston,
23:06who was only just subbed on,
23:08found himself running at the German goal.
23:10Well,
23:11keeper Harold Schumacher was not having that.
23:13While Battiston's shot went wide,
23:15Schumacher forcefully clattered into the defender.
23:18Battiston was out cold.
23:20The medics quickly gave Battiston oxygen at the pitch side,
23:23and he was taken out on a stretcher.
23:25But even with all of this,
23:27France didn't even get a foul,
23:28let alone Schumacher being sent off.
23:30Adding insult to injury,
23:32West Germany went on to win the game in penalties.
23:35Number 2.
23:36Own goal murder.
23:48Sometimes the cruelest World Cup moments don't happen during the match.
23:52They happen after it.
23:53Andres Escobar's murder in 1994 remains one of the darkest tragedies in football history,
23:58because a single own goal against the United States seemed to follow him home in the most horrifying way imaginable.
24:04Days after Colombia was eliminated from the 1994 tournament in the group stage,
24:09Escobar was shot outside a restaurant in Medellin.
24:11The case was investigated quickly,
24:13and police arrested Humberto Munoz Castro,
24:16who confessed to taking the defender's life and allegedly had ties to organized crime.
24:20We are very sad because we cannot understand how passion can then go or derivate into murder.
24:30Castro later received a lengthy prison sentence,
24:32while investigators also examined the involvement of others connected to powerful criminal circles.
24:37La gente estaba muy triste.
24:39La gente no reaccionó bien porque...
24:42Es un deporte.
24:44El fútbol es un deporte.

24:58Number 1.
24:59Zidane's headbutt.
25:01Zinedine Zidane is one of the best players to ever walk onto a pitch,
25:05but his career was tarnished in the final against Italy in 2006.
25:09With the scores won all deep into extra time,
25:12Zidane got into a verbal spat with Marco Matarazzi.
25:14Suddenly,
25:15he headbutted the Italian in the chest.
25:17You can't excuse that.
25:20Zidane's career ends in disgrace.
25:23With no other option,
25:24the ref showed the Real Madrid and Juventus legend a red card.
25:28To make it worse,
25:29France went on to lose on penalties.
25:31In 2012,
25:32this incident was immortalized when a sculpture by Adèle Abdes Ahmed was unveiled in Paris.
