U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Pramila Jayapal have sounded the alarm over the growing concentration of wealth and influence as Elon Musk moves closer to trillionaire status. Calling it a “wake-up call,” the lawmakers argued that extreme wealth accumulation raises concerns about economic inequality, political influence, and corporate power in America. Their remarks have reignited debate over taxation, regulation, and the role of billionaires in shaping public policy. The criticism also comes amid renewed scrutiny of Musk’s ties to former President Donald Trump, with senators urging greater accountability and transparency from both political and business leaders.

00:00This week, apparently Elon Musk is going to become a trillionaire.
00:04This week, I have Morris Pearl of Patriotic Millionaires on my podcast.
00:09Elon Musk is officially the world's first trillionaire. Elon Musk has more money and
00:15more wealth than anyone in human history. Loopholes have allowed Jeff Bezos to pay an
00:21effective tax rate lower than a Boston public school teacher. Taxing the wealthy, making them
00:27pay their fair share. There is no reason. We have all the resources in this state and in this
00:31country that we need, but we have been allocating them wrong. This week, apparently Elon Musk is
00:36going to become a trillionaire. That's total bullshit. Nobody should be a trillionaire.
00:41Right now, we've got way too much wealth concentrated with the tiniest group of people.
00:46And what we need to do is tax the wealth. That's exactly why I've got a bill that does just
00:52that.
00:52It's time to tax the rich. And this week, I have Morris Pearl of Patriotic Millionaires on my podcast.
00:59So download it on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts and find out how we can make a
01:05difference and change this rigged system. Elon Musk is officially the world's first
01:10trillionaire. Think about that. We're living in a time when more and more people are just hanging
01:15on by their fingernails to survive in this economy. And Elon Musk has more money and more wealth than
01:22anyone in human history. I want to be clear. This is not just some fluke. It is a feature of
01:31a rigged
01:31economy. Donald Trump's big, beautiful bill cut healthcare for millions of Americans to give guys
01:38like Elon bigger tax breaks. The tax code rewards CEOs for firing workers and replacing them with AI.
01:47Loopholes have allowed Jeff Bezos to pay an effective tax rate lower than a Boston public school teacher.
01:54And we are left with a country where a handful of billionaires at the top pop champagne in their
02:00$300 million yachts while working people take on even more shifts to try to pay off their student
02:07loan debt. The top 1% of U.S. earners now have more wealth than the entire middle class. We
02:16need to
02:16overhaul our tax code. We need a wealth tax. And it's about time that corporations paid their fair share.
02:24Today's marker should be a wake-up call that enough is enough. Time to make change.
02:32The wealthy have gotten away without paying their fair share for far too long. Corporations are making
02:37historic sums of wealth. There is a person on track to become a trillionaire in our lifetime. And if that
02:43is not an indictment on our economy, I don't know what is. And in Wisconsin, we have done the bold
02:48thing
02:48before. And as governor, I am promising you that we are going to do bold things once again. And that
02:54includes taxing the wealthy, making them pay their fair share. There is no reason that in school
03:00districts all across Wisconsin, people are voting to raise their own taxes, their own property taxes
03:06through referendum when there are billionaires that are getting away without paying their fair share.
03:10We have all the resources in this state and in this country that we need, but we have been allocating
03:15them wrong. And that stops the day I become governor.
