The first Airbus C295 military transport aircraft manufactured in India has completed its maiden test flight from the Final Assembly Line in Vadodara, marking a milestone for Indian aviation and defence.
The aircraft is the first of 40 units that will be built in the country under the C295 India programme, developed by Airbus in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Indian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The project is considered a major step forward in the “Make in India” initiative, as it represents the first case of a military aircraft being manufactured in the country by the private sector.
The test flight is part of the post-production verification process and brings the programme closer to delivering the first “Made in India” C295 to the Indian Air Force later this year.
