00:00What's a trend that you think absolutely needs to die?
00:02Enough is enough, six, seven, please.
00:04Hi, who, what, where, I'm Madison Beer
00:05and we are going to play a game of truth or where.
00:08I'm scared, I'm excited.
00:10I think it's gonna be truth.
00:13Hello.
00:14Okay, no gatekeeping, what's the one LA spot
00:17that has never let you down?
00:18I have to go with my gut here.
00:20The first thing I thought of was my favorite restaurant
00:22which is Found Oyster.
00:23It's never once let me down and I love it so much.
00:27So, Found Oyster, tried and true.
00:28I'm not gonna guess again.
00:30I feel like I'm gonna be wrong.
00:34Be serious.
00:35When you look at your catalog, be honest.
00:37Are you a pop ballad girl at heart
00:38or a dance banger girly?
00:40I think my brain maybe is dance banger
00:43but I think my heart is pop ballad.
00:47The type of music I make is all dependent
00:48on what I'm going through in my life, honestly.
00:50And I think that, yeah, when I'm making the fun dance songs
00:52I think I'm just in that mindset.
00:54A lot of the time I'm thinking about tour
00:55and I'm thinking about my show
00:56because performing Make You Mine
00:58was such a fun highlight of last year.
01:00So, I think I'm thinking about tour a lot.
01:03If it's truth, again, it's rigged.
01:07Where?
01:07Oh, cute!
01:09Okay, this was Billboard Women in Music.
01:11I love a corset.
01:12I will always love a corset.
01:13You cannot stop me.
01:14And I don't know, I thought it was a really fun,
01:16flirty little thing.
01:17Also, totally a coincidence that I matched the color
01:20of the carpet and the whole event.
01:21Did not do that intentionally.
01:23Yeah, I absolutely love this outfit.
01:26Oh, okay.
01:27This is a blast from the past.
01:30I want to say this is 2018 Cannes Film Festival, I think.
01:35Not one of the photographers is looking at me, mind you.
01:37They're like, who, Miss Girl?
01:39But this was a really fun dress to wear.
01:42You can see in this stance.
01:43I am very much so feeling it.
01:45And there's a really beautiful staircase here.
01:47And I remember walking up it and feeling very gorgeous.
01:50And the dress was just absolutely beautiful.
01:52I think I posted probably 10 Instagram photos at the time
01:55wearing it.
01:56So, I liked it then and I like it now.
02:01Hello.
02:02This is Life Support Tour.
02:04This was my, I don't even know what to call this look.
02:07This was probably like my sexy look on that tour.
02:09This was what I started the show in.
02:11And I have a lot I can say about this.
02:13It came much differently than you're seeing it now.
02:16Like, the ruffles were much bigger.
02:18Literally the night before I left on the tour,
02:20me and my stylist, Chris Faye, she was,
02:22we were on the ground in my old house,
02:25literally hands sewing the ruffles down.
02:27We were sewing these little pearls
02:29and embellishments to the outfits
02:31moments before we had to leave for tour.
02:34So, how it lasted the whole tour was insane.
02:36I also only think I had one of these outfits.
02:39Maybe I had two, like one duplicate.
02:41But I did probably over 60 shows in this fit.
02:44I can't believe it lasted.
02:45Also, those gloves.
02:46I remember that material was not glove material
02:49and my nails would poke through the seams of the gloves
02:53all the time and we had to sew them back up.
02:54But it feels so long ago,
02:56but it was such a pivotal moment in my life, in my career.
02:59I feel like it was the first time I was ever really, like,
03:01creating a show, a big show.
03:03And I just, yeah, I look really fondly back at this time.
03:06And I loved wearing bows in my hair,
03:08so much so that I got a tattoo of a bow,
03:10which is representative of the life support era.
03:12So, miss her.
03:14Love her.
03:15Giving it a good spin.
03:19Okay.
03:20Truth, do you ever feel like you're a little slept on?
03:23Yes and no, I guess.
03:24I mean, I think that I always will strive
03:27for more people to hear my music.
03:29I love reaching more of an audience.
03:31I love every time I've gone on tour,
03:33more people attend the shows.
03:34I think that's so cool.
03:34But I also love my community
03:36and I love the level of fan base that I have.
03:39I'm very proud of where I am
03:40and I'm very thankful to be able to put out music
03:43that I'm proud of and tour with people
03:45who we share a mutual love and respect.
03:47But I also wouldn't really change a thing.
03:49I just want to keep doing what I do the way I do it.
03:52And you want to come along for the ride?
03:54You're more than welcome.
03:56Let's give us a dare.
03:58Give the kids a dare.
03:59No, I went right past it, okay.
04:01You and Lana Del Rey have a remarkable bond.
04:03What do you think her three best songs are?
04:05What a crazy question.
04:07Ooh, this is difficult for me.
04:10Norman fucking Rockwell, Gods and Monsters,
04:14and Radio maybe would be my top three.
04:19I don't know though, that's not fair.
04:20That answer would change every single day.
04:22Love you, Lana.
04:23I have a Spotify playlist called Lana Mama
04:25because she's my queen.
04:29Okay, yes, Victoria's Secret fashion show.
04:33This was recently.
04:34I'll start with the performance look.
04:37Victoria's Secret made this outfit custom for me,
04:39which is insane and so cool.
04:41Those are also custom Louboutin boots
04:43that are painted baby pink on the bottom.
04:45We took the red out and painted them pink
04:47to match the outfit, which is crazy.
04:49And yeah, the whole thing was just really, really cool.
04:51Shout out to everyone who worked on this design.
04:53We were changing things quite literally
04:55until the hour before I went on stage.
04:56And especially the wings, the team that worked on the wings
04:59were just so amazing and wanting to be collaborative
05:02with me so bad because I was really, really nervous
05:04about wearing them because I don't think I have the best balance
05:07or like hand-eye coordination.
05:09And I was just like, these wings are going to topple me over.
05:11And they made me ones that felt a little bit more like livable,
05:15I guess, and huge honor, very thankful.
05:17And just one of the coolest experiences of my life.
05:20I had dreamed of doing that forever.
05:21So thank you, Victoria's Secret for having me.
05:23And then the carpet, this was such a beautiful dress that I loved.
05:27I saw it on the rack in my fitting and I was like,
05:29that would be so hot.
05:31And I feel like where else can you wear a basically naked dress,
05:33but a Victoria's Secret fashion show carpet.
05:39Oh, we got so close.
05:41We got so close.
05:42Your heartbreak songs feel really personal.
05:44Are they rooted in specific moments
05:45or do you write from a more universal place?
05:47No, they're rooted in trauma and betrayal.
05:50No, I'm just kidding.
05:51They are, no, they are all real though.
05:52Like I, I think that it's hard for me.
05:55I guess there's been a couple songs that have been inspired by movies
05:58or something, but those aren't as frequent.
06:00Most things are rooted in a pretty real experience that I have.
06:04I try to be vague as best as I can,
06:07but then sometimes I'm like,
06:08oh, I did say why you were such a Gemini,
06:10which is pretty specific.
06:11I definitely write from a real place.
06:13It's going to be there.
06:14It's going to be there.
06:15It's going to be there.
06:15It's going to be there.
06:17No.
06:18Is there a meme of you
06:19that you wish the internet would retire already?
06:21How much time do you have?
06:23You know, I've made peace with my cringe online presence.
06:26I think I've, I've come around the block with it.
06:28I'm like, you know what?
06:29This is who I am.
06:30I have a digital footprint and they're a part of my story.
06:34And yeah.
06:39Oh, wow.
06:40See, now we're heating up.
06:42Pull up your camera roll and search.
06:43I don't have my phone on me.
06:44So no, I'll do the next one.
06:47And I'm not showing you my camera roll.
06:49Also, no.
06:49Okay.
06:50That's suspicious.
06:51Moving on.
06:52I saw one name and I said, nope.
06:56I'm having fun.
06:57I'm like, can we keep going?
06:58Oh, this is our last wear card.
07:00The Grammys.
07:01This was such a special moment to me.
07:04I absolutely loved this dress so much.
07:08It was a custom dress.
07:09I felt so princess-like in it.
07:13It was just, it was just such a dream.
07:15And that was the first time I walked the carpet as a Grammy nominee, which was very, very cool.
07:20And what's nice about the awards I've been nominated in is they have been announced in the pre-show.
07:27So I don't have to walk the carpet with any anxiety on whether I lose or win.
07:30I knew that I lost both times before I walked.
07:33So that eliminated a lot of worry for me.
07:34But yeah, I just loved this day.
07:36This was a very, very special day and time in my life.
07:39I, I, it was crazy walking around being like, I'm a nominee.
07:43What?
07:43So very cool.
07:46Was there a track from Lock It that really tested you or took the longest to crack?
07:49Okay.
07:50Honestly, Lock It theme took me a good amount of time because I knew that I wanted to talk directly
07:55to
07:55my fans and people listening.
07:57And I just didn't know exactly how to word what I wanted to say.
08:00I knew I wanted to talk about how I kind of, I feel like I've taken a little bit more
08:03of a step back
08:04from being as interactive with people online as I used to be.
08:07But I also wanted to tell them that doesn't mean that I love you less.
08:10It just means that I needed to take some time away and for myself, I guess.
08:13But yeah, what I wanted to put in the opening of the album was, was a decision for sure.
08:17And that took me a long time to write.
08:18And then the track that took me longest to crack was the decision of whether to
08:23put hard, intense, very audible auto-tune on You're Still Everything or not.
08:28And we obviously went with doing it.
08:29And I just think it's a really cool way to sort of modernize a ballad.
08:35And I kind of picture like a robot singing that song.
08:38So I love the auto-tune on it.
