00:00Thank you, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. Welcome back. And what a wet, cozy weekend it was. I know
00:07most of you were inside, especially on Sunday. But today, we got more sunshine than yesterday. Perfect conditions as we
00:14made our way to work and school. Now, let's see what we're getting tonight. Tonight will be mostly fair but
00:20hazy apart from a few brief showers with minimum temperatures at 25 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
00:28Now, would we need those umbrellas tomorrow? Well, according to the Met Office, yes, but only for part of the
00:35day. As sunny, hazy and breezy conditions are expected despite a few afternoon showers with daytime temperatures of 32 degrees
00:43in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago.
00:46But you will also need the face mask not just for part of the day but for the next couple
00:51of days because guess who's back? Back again. It's Saharan dust with a moderate concentration. And if you take a
00:58look, levels will increase.
01:00Looking at our two-day forecast now, where both Wednesday and Thursday will bring party cloudy and breezy conditions. But
01:08if you like to moderate periods of rain occurring with a low chance of thunderstorm activity.
01:14Now, towards sun times in Trinidad, sunrise is at 543 and 538 in Tobago and sunset at 627 in Trinidad
01:22and 624 in Tobago.
01:23And for our seas, well, seas will be moderate with waves up to 2 meters in open waters and below
01:291 meter in sheltered areas.
01:31It's now time for your Tide Times.
01:44Now to some international news. A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the southern Philippines on Monday at about 7.37
01:52a.m.
01:53The quake occurred at the death of roughly 35 kilometers and caused widespread panic, building collapses and emergency responses across
02:01parts of the country.
02:03The disaster killed at least 35 people and injured more than 200 others.
02:09Among the fatalities, 13 people died in a landslide that was triggered by the earthquake.
02:14The Philippines is located on the Ring of Fire, a seismically active region around the Pacific Ocean that experiences frequent
02:22earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
02:25That's some unfortunate news there. Let's keep them in our prayers.
02:28But that's not all. This afternoon, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck the southern Gulf of Mexico, about 65 miles
02:36west-northwest of Mantua, Cuba.
02:39Authorities confirmed that there was no tsunami threat following the quake.
02:44The tremor was felt across parts of Florida, an uncommon occurrence for earthquakes in the region.
02:50Residents reported light shaking, but no major damage or injuries immediately reported.
02:56Now you're probably wondering, what's the cause of all these earthquakes today?
03:00But seismologists generally expect that some magnitude 6-plus earthquakes will occur somewhere on Earth each month.
03:07Most are unrelated and result from the normal movement of tectonic plates.
03:13Well, that's all for weather tonight. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
03:16But until then, Sachin has your sports news next.
