00:01I want to get us into the room as soon as possible, but I do want to say, leave it
00:07to Mexico to pull me back into this large, big subject, football, and you have to understand that it was
00:28so great and interesting
00:30them to pull me back in because, of course, Mexico is one of the three host countries, Mexico, United States,
00:37and Canada, and I felt very obliged to be, I don't know how else to say this, democratic about going
00:48into this work, and it is a completely different agenda than the 1986 work, which was a poster, and Mexico
00:57was the host country,
00:59and it was, wow, what an amazing thing for a young person to travel through this country and see how
01:07much this country loves football.
01:11There wasn't a town or a place that didn't have a football field, either in a riverbed or just a
01:20dirt field or in a volcano.
01:22You know, I mean, it was, that was the real story about how much football is about to you.
01:30So, we managed to, this time, I really, many years have passed, 40 years have passed, and I've become more
01:43interested in people and portraits.
01:45And when I went into the game this time, I really started to think about the people playing the game,
01:53and I wanted to do portraits of these people playing the game.
01:58I mean, they're warriors, they're heroes, they're brothers in arms, they're poets, they're, they're amazing, amazing set of human beings.
02:09And, you know, honestly, I was telling you that I've just started this project, and this is just the beginning
02:19of it, because we have people I want to photograph that we did not get to for this set of
02:25pictures,
02:26and I plan to work on this project, continue to work on this project after the games.
02:33You can feel, you can feel the excitement just rising in this city, you know, like this, as this is
02:41happening, and it's, it's so powerful with everything that's going on in the world today.
02:46I'm not, I can't talk about politics, really, but, you know, how wonderful it is to have this game, you
02:54know, to be there for, for us all, men and women.
02:57And so, I feel like I've just started.
03:03I'm a little embarrassed about, you know, what we do, what we do have there, but it's so, it's good.
03:09It just needs more of it, and, you know, and I can't believe I'm in this extraordinary museum that I
03:19walk around on Saturday,
03:22and, and, and, and, and, and it was such a beautiful idea that some of the artifacts were so big
03:27they had to build a museum around the artifacts.
03:30I mean, it's such a great area, I took many photographs and sent them on to my daughter, who's sort
03:36of a geologist, um, she is a geologist, she's getting her master's in it, but, um, I wish my children
03:44were here to see this museum,
03:45it's, it's, it's so important, and this city is so sophisticated, and so, um, so deeply drenched in culture, um,
03:59I'm sorry to say it like this, I'm not, I'm just speaking from my heart.
04:03Um, and, and, and I'm really proud to be here today.
04:08Um, I want to get you into the show, I'm going to talk a little bit in the show, and
04:12if you have questions, uh, in this show, I will certainly answer some questions from there.
04:17So, um, I hope you can fit in there, we're going to have to figure that out, right?
04:22Okay, um, thank you, the, the sponsors, they were great to jump in on this and, and, and sponsor this,
04:29because we, we didn't know quite what we were doing,
04:32and we did a lot of traveling, but probably not enough, and, uh, the time we spent in Mexico is,
04:38is very, very special.
04:40The, your players are, are beautiful, beautiful men and women, I mean, um, I have a crush on, um, Guillermo,
04:50right?
04:51I have, you know, I follow, we'll follow him anywhere, your, your goalie, um, your legendary goalie, so, let's, uh,
05:00let's go in there,
05:01and we'll try to figure out how to fit you in, okay?
05:03And, and don't worry, we'll get everyone as satisfied as you can for, for whatever we need to get them,
05:09okay?
05:10Good.
05:10Thank you.
