​Taiwan’s coast guard has deployed five vessels to monitor Chinese coast guard ships after China on Saturday announced what it called a “special maritime traffic enforcement operation” in waters east of Taiwan. Taiwan's coast guard says Beijing has no sovereign rights in the area and that it had detected four Chinese vessels operating nearby.
