00:00President Trump has also mentioned Marco Rubio as being someone who, if his name was on the ticket in 2028,
00:07together with J.D. Vance, would be sure to win.
00:10Joel, what do you think of that? Because, I mean, this war, if it goes on for much longer, doesn't
00:16it risk damaging both men's chances?
00:18The Kremlinology of who's on first in this case.
00:22You know, the president apparently is floating out to his close associates about who do they like, who would be
00:28better.
00:29I think for J.D. Vance, there's actually a bigger risk, quite frankly, because much of his brand has been
00:34about being anti-war and having the United States not get into more Middle East conflicts.
00:39And here he is now essentially advocating for it.
00:43This kind of pollutes his brand within the base of the Republican Party, excuse me, that would always support him.
00:51I do think that this also opens up a bit of a wild card scenario.
00:55You know, the conventional wisdom is that the vice president must follow the president as the next nominee.
01:02But, you know, winning is more important than conventional wisdom.
01:06And if people feel like Marco Rubio, as an alternative name, brings more to the table and can build a
01:13broader coalition that can get him to victory, you're going to see some shifting going on.
01:17And so I think this is for, as Amanda pointed out, a very for both candidates, a very perilous moment.
01:24But there's more risk for Vance because he's losing potentially a lot of his actual image within the Republican Party's
01:32being someone who's anti-war.
