00:00Taking the two rape counts as the lead offences, I will impose the same sentence for each.
00:06The sentence for count three and for count four will be as follows.
00:10There will be a custodial element of 21 years.
00:14I recognise that this is above the normal guideline range, even for a rape in the A1 category,
00:19but I consider this unavoidable given the extreme and unusual circumstances of this case.
00:26Added to this is an extension period of three years on account of dangerousness.
00:31This gives a total of 24 years.
00:34As already indicated, the sentence on count one is 12 years.
00:39The sentence on count two is seven years.
00:43The sentence on each count is concurrent with the sentences on the other counts.
00:48I will now explain the effect of this sentence.
00:50I have imposed a total sentence of 24 years.
00:54You will be released from custody no later than two-thirds of the way through the custodial element of 21
01:00years.
01:01In other words, you will be released from custody after 14 years.
