Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has revealed dramatic new details about the attack that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Araghchi said he was inside Khamenei’s office when the building came under attack and emerged from the rubble fearing for the leader’s fate. He recalled that Khamenei refused to take shelter despite warnings of war, saying the leader remained in his office until the very end. Araghchi added that he was more worried about Khamenei than himself as the strike unfolded, offering a rare firsthand account of one of the most significant moments in Iran’s recent history.

00:00The building we were sitting in was targeted, but the section we were in remained intact, and another part of
00:07the building was destroyed. At the moment of the explosion, I was there.
00:17The first question that came to my mind and the first concern that arose for me was, how is the
00:24leader doing?
00:30I was hoping that he wouldn't be in his office at that moment, but I guessed he would be in
00:37the office as per his usual routine.
00:43Even though in those days the Americans had set up a massive military presence around us, and the probability of
00:50war was high, the martyred leader's spirit was such that he wouldn't go to a shelter and would stay in
00:59his office.
01:03From that very moment, while we were getting out from under the rubble, my entire thought was whether he had
01:10been targeted as well or not.
01:13We got out of the building, and I went back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and I didn't go
01:20home for 40 days.
01:30At the Foreign Ministry, we tried to make the voice of the Iranian people's righteousness heard by the world, and
01:39to defend the country's position, and to show the strong and confident spirit of Iran and Iranians to the world.
01:53In those first couple of days, I was very worried about what had happened to him until the news of
02:00his martyrdom was confirmed.
02:03This is a grief that will never be forgotten.
02:08A wound was inflicted on our hearts that may never heal.
02:13Of course, the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran is stronger than to rely on individuals.
02:19Immediately, the structures of the system became active, a new leader was chosen, and a young Khamenei was chosen instead
02:26of the old Khamenei, and our hearts found peace.
02:38But I can never forget those moments.
02:45At the moment of the bombing, as much as I was worried about the leader, I wasn't worried about myself.
02:53This became a kind of turning point in the history of Iran, a point that showed Iran's power to the
03:02world.
03:04Contrary to what others thought, thinking this would lead to weakness and collapse, it did exactly the opposite and became
03:11a point of strength.
03:13And this was thanks to the blood of the martyred leader and other martyrs.
03:47A major escalation warning has come to us.
03:50It has come from Iran's top diplomatic leadership, raising fears that the fragile ceasefire situation in Lebanon could collapse into
03:57a wider regional war.
03:59Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakshi has issued one of the strongest statements yet from Tehran, warning that any Israeli attack
04:08on Beirut could trigger a full-scale resumption of war.
04:11Speaking in an interview with Lebanese broadcaster Al-Mayadeen TV, Arakshi said Iran's armed forces are, quote, ready and willing
04:20to resume war against Israel at any moment if escalation continues.
04:25He also warned that any strike on Beirut would have grave consequences and could lead to a broader regional conflict
04:32involving multiple fronts.
04:34According to Arakshi, Iran has already communicated to mediators that it will not tolerate an Israeli assault on Beirut under
04:42any circumstances.
04:43This comes at a time when a U.S.-mediated partial ceasefire framework is already under severe strain.
04:51The agreement, announced earlier through diplomatic channels involving the United States, was intended to reduce escalation between Israel and Hezbollah,
05:00particularly around Beirut and southern Lebanon.
05:03Under that arrangement, Israel would avoid striking Beirut if Hezbollah halted attacks on northern Israel, while Israeli forces would continue
05:12limited operations in the south.
05:15However, the situation on the ground has remained unstable, with continued Israeli military activity in the south and ongoing rocket
05:23exchanges across the border.
05:25Arakshi's warning now raises the stakes dramatically.
05:28He stated that Iran views the Lebanon conflict and the broader regional war as inseparable, meaning any major escalation in
05:38Beirut could trigger a wider response beyond Lebanon itself.
05:42He also emphasized that while communication channels remain open, no meaningful progress has been achieved toward a broader de-escalation.
05:51Analysts say this message serves multiple purposes, deterring Israel from expanding operations toward Beirut, reinforcing Iran's support for Hezbollah, and
06:02signaling readiness to respond across the region if red lines are crossed.
06:07Israel has not issued a direct response to Arakshi's latest remarks, but Israeli leadership has previously stated it will continue
06:15military operations against perceived threats in Lebanon.
06:18The U.S. continues its mediation efforts, attempting to keep the conflict contained between separate theaters, including Lebanon and wider
06:28Iran-related tensions.
06:29But with Hezbollah still active, Israeli operations ongoing in the south, and Iran issuing explicit war warnings, the risk of
06:38escalation is rising sharply.
06:40For now, the ceasefire framework remains fragile, and increasingly under pressure from all sides.
06:47The question now is no longer just about Lebanon.
06:50It is whether a single strike on Beirut could ignite a much larger regional war involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran.
07:10Hezbollah, and Iran.
