00:00This is maybe the very first Marvel family.
00:05But what is so special about this family?
00:09Well, I think what makes them special is that they are a family.
00:12As you said, you know, it was a radical idea in the 60s
00:15to create a superhero team that was a family.
00:18The idea that you could create real human drama
00:22between these characters, husband and wife, brother and sister,
00:26best friend, that they would feel like us,
00:29that they would be relatable
00:30because so many superheroes feel so distant, so far away from us.
00:34The Fantastic Four are very appealing
00:37because they have the same vulnerabilities that we have as people.
00:41They have the same heart, the same humor, the same messiness.
00:44It's a kind of vintage sensation about this film,
00:50not only because in the 60s,
00:52but it's the way that you make the film is a kind of vintage.
00:55Yeah, you're right.
00:56I mean, the movie is set in the 60s, in a retro future 60s,
01:00on a different Earth and a different universe.
01:03But we made it with a lot of authenticity,
01:06a lot of love for 60s.
01:09Movies, architecture, photography, these were our references.
01:12We wanted it to feel in some degree like a movie
01:15that had been made at that time.
01:16We shot some sequences on 16mm.
01:19We used vintage lenses, vintage lighting.
01:22The people in the 60s who were dreaming about the future,
01:25making those dreams come true in the world of the film.
