00:005,000 people own more than a quarter of the financial wealth,
00:03while 16% of the population is at risk of poverty.
00:07This is Germany.
00:09The number of ultra-high net worth individuals in the country reached around 5,000 in 2025.
00:15That's 1,100 more than the year before.
00:19You gotta have more than 100 million dollars in financial assets to belong to the club.
00:24And they own about 27% of Germany's financial wealth.
00:28That's almost 3.5 trillion dollars.
00:32In case you don't know, a trillion has 12 zeros.
00:36Together with more than 700,000 multimillionaires,
00:39they hold more than half of Germany's financial assets.
00:42That includes cash, bank deposits, bonds, stocks, funds, and pensions.
00:48The stock market was one of the main drivers of this growth.
00:51Germany's financial assets grew by nearly 18% last year, reaching 12.4 trillion dollars.
00:58It is ranked fourth globally, after the US 147 trillion dollars, China 41.5, and Japan 15.6.
01:07But here is the catch.
01:08Around 66 million people in Germany have less than 250,000 dollars in financial assets.
01:15On top of that, the number of people at risk of poverty in Germany has also risen,
01:19from 14.4% in 2023 to 16.1% in 2025.
01:26So the question isn't whether Germany is getting richer or not.
01:30It is who exactly is getting richer?
01:33F
01:33We go there.
