00:05A former cop, an IIM degree, a bird that wanted out of its cage, but the real story is not
00:11the bird, it's the wall it ran into and it's a big end, yes.
00:15Why are so many Indians obsessing about one man from Tamil Nadu who decides to quit a party that has
00:20little to no presence in that state?
00:23Here is why K-Anomalyze's latest move is a big deal.
00:31Let's start with why Tamil Nadu even matters.
00:33It is 4% of India's land and 6% of its people, but nearly 10% of its economy,
00:39second only to Maharashtra and on its own, it's about the size of Pakistan.
00:43This is India's Detroit, now building your phones as well.
00:47Foxconn, Samsung, Dell, if you want to run India's economy, you cannot be a nobody here.
00:52And the BJP, here it was a nobody.
00:57Here's the catch, a Tamil Nadu is an economic giant, but a political featherweight by design.
01:03It controlled its population and today its population grows slower than most states in India.
01:07Bihar for example did not, it now has 50 million more people than Tamil Nadu does.
01:12And India hands out parliamentary seats by headcount, so the state that did everything right could soon get a smaller
01:17voice.
01:17Do the right thing, get punished for it.
01:19That's the wall.
01:21And it's built against everything a North-led party stands for.
01:26Into that wall walked Annamalai, a Tamil technocrat who could take on the Dravidian party's influent Tamil.
01:32The BJP's best shot at selling a North Indian project in a Tamil accent.
01:36The Tamil Nadu will come the Modiji way.
01:38His pitch, stop leaning on the AIADMK, fight alone.
01:43The bird in the cage, he seemed to say, is ready to fly.
01:46I'm always for BJP fighting alone.
01:48But the high command flinched and chose the safe AIADMK alliance instead.
01:53The price, Annamalai himself, they dropped him as the party chief in 2025.
01:57Then came the verdict, April 2026.
02:00The BJP, the party he spent 5 years building, won a single seat.
02:05Its ally won 47 and still lost.
02:07And a debutant actor Vijay took power as chief minister.
02:11So the man who tried to make the BJP Tamil was sacrificed to save the alliance.
02:15And the party he built was wiped out anyway.
02:18Which brings us back to that flight to Delhi.
02:22The posters are already up.
02:24Our leader, come and lead us.
02:25But this was never about one man's pride.
02:27It's a test of whether any national party can win a state India can't ignore.
02:30But that was built brick by brick to resist the centre.
02:34The prize, too big to walk away from.
02:36The wall, too high to climb.
02:38Annamalai ran at it anyway.
02:40But tell me what you think.
02:41Can Annamalai, minus the shackles of the BJP, fly high and long in the Tamil Nadu sky?
02:45I'm Anish Adhikari.
02:47First things fast.
02:55Let's do something they want to try to chop up all the way out of the Quinnipay in.
02:55With the right turn, this is the title coming fowl screen.
