The U.S. military said Tuesday that Iran fired missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain that failed or were shot down, and that the U.S. launched strikes on an Iranian facility in response.

01:26Iran and the United States have again exchanged fire in the Persian Gulf, testing this nominal
01:32ceasefire in the Iran war.
01:34What we've heard from U.S. military officials is that the Iranians launched ballistic missiles
01:40targeting both Kuwait and Bahrain this morning.
01:43Now the U.S. officials say that that fire was either intercepted or broke up over the Persian
01:49Gulf, not striking any targets.
01:51The Iranians say that they targeted the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain as
01:56well as a military base in another country they didn't identify.
01:59The Iranians blame this on the Americans firing a missile into an empty oil tanker that was
02:05trying to break a U.S. blockade on Iran.
02:08Iran is trying to get all these empty oil tankers back because they're still trying to produce
02:12oil but they're having to slow down the flow because they have nowhere to stick it.
02:16They're onshore as well as offshore facilities that have been trying to take this oil in
02:23are filling up rapidly.
02:25All this comes as the Iranians say that they have stopped negotiating with the Americans
02:31over the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
02:35Now U.S. President Donald Trump has insisted that these talks are going on but two Iranian
02:40semi-official news agencies as well as one regional official say that Iran has not responded after
02:46warning over Israel threatening to bomb Beirut the other day.
02:49So all this put together shows just how tentative this ceasefire is.
02:53And while there aren't really ongoing continuous hostilities, these individual attacks are
02:59adding up to something much greater and a wider threat to regional security.
