00:00Manhattan Henge is upon us and I'm in Manhattan, so let's try to see it.
00:04It's that time of year again when the sunset aligns with some of the east to west streets in Manhattan
00:09and the setting sun will briefly but perfectly align with the city's grid,
00:14creating some magnificent views.
00:16So if you're in the New York area, you can try to see Manhattan Henge.
00:20I'm here on May 28th, but it's also happening May 29th
00:23and it will be visible again on July 11th and 12th,
00:26though on the 12th, the sun will be partially obscured by the horizon.
00:29To see Manhattan Henge, you have to find a street that has a clear view from east to west,
00:34which means you'll be looking down the street toward the Hudson River and New Jersey.
00:38The best streets to find this view are 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, and 57th Street.
00:45But keep in mind, you probably won't be the only one,
00:48as Manhattan Henge draws sky watchers, photographers,
00:51and just curious individuals from near and far.
00:54Okay, let's go see it.
00:56All right, the clouds have kind of parted and we can see something.
01:00Okay, just kidding, but we'll give it a minute.
01:23All right, we have seen Manhattan Henge.
01:26It was a little bit cloudy, but it was still spectacular,
01:29and there are insane crowds in the streets.
01:32People are in the middle of the crosswalk in Manhattan.
01:36Buses are honking. It's a little bit dangerous, but so, so fun.
01:41Huge crowds despite the clouds and a beautiful sunset.
01:45If you have the opportunity to check out Manhattan Henge at any point,
01:48including this upcoming July, do it.
