00:06This year, the theme is,
00:07Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration.
00:12In southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region,
00:15wildlife there now enjoys more natural space,
00:18thanks to the notable progress in wildlife protection over the years.
00:23According to the data from local environment authorities,
00:26Tibet has so far built 47 nature reserves measuring a total area of 412,200 square kilometers,
00:34which accounts for more than one-third of the region's total.
00:38The region's wild-ass population has risen to nearly 90,000 from the previous 50,000.
00:44The population of black-necked cranes has jumped to about 8,000,
00:49from the previous 1,000 to 3,000.
00:52The population of Tibetan antelopes has grown from 50,000 to more than 300,000,
00:57while the population of wild yak reaches more than 10,000.
01:02Last year, China downgraded the status of Tibetan antelopes from
01:06endangered to near-threatened,
01:08thanks to active anti-poaching and biodiversity protection efforts.
01:12Tibet spent 20.23 billion yuan in ecological protection from 2016 to 2020,
01:19more than doubling the spending for the previous five years.
