03:50It is once again a great honor and privilege for me to address you at the opening of Bakü Energy
03:55Week.
03:55And I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency General President İlham Aliyev and Government of Azerbaijan
04:02for their warm hospitality.
04:06Today's energy world supplying reliable energy at affordable cost is becoming extremely difficult to achieve.
04:13Geopolitical tensions, wars in our region, supply chain disruptions makes markets quite volatile and vulnerable.
04:22We are facing constant stress tests for resilience of energy system globally.
04:28And recent developments have once again reminded us that energy security remains a strategic priority for all nations.
04:37Energy security today is no longer defined solely by access to resources.
04:41It also requires diversified supply, strong infrastructure, operational flexibility, high interconnection capacities and broader cooperation.
04:52We are facing these challenges while at the same time we are trying to overcome one of the greatest challenges
04:58that humanity is facing, climate change.
05:01We need a successful energy transition but at the same time we need to find the right balance between sustainability,
05:08security and competitiveness.
05:10As Turkey, our priorities are clear.
05:14Energy security, reducing import dependency, supporting economic growth and achieving our net zero target by the beginning of mid-century.
05:24Today, renewable energy accounts for approximately 65% of Turkey's install capacity.
05:30We are among the top five countries in Europe and rank 11th globally in renewable energy.
05:36And by the end of this year, we expect solar energy, solar power to become the largest source in Turkey's
05:43installed power generation capacity.
05:46At the same time, we are working on a new energy architecture centered on electrification, aiming for a more resilient,
05:53more flexible and increasingly digitalized energy infrastructure.
05:58Natural gas remains a critical component of our energy markets.
06:02We invested heavily on our gas infrastructure projects, pipelines, underground storages, large regasification capacities and significant number of interconnections with
06:14our neighbors.
06:15Thanks to our extensive infrastructure investment, Turkey today has a highly diversified supply portfolio from pipeline to LNG and resilient
06:25gas market.
06:26Upstream investment have also started to pay off.
06:29Our own gas production is increasingly increasing steadily, and hopefully at the end of this year, it will reach to
06:377.5 BCM from Black Sea's Sakarya gas field.
06:42Nuclear energy is another strategic pillar of our long-term energy plans.
06:47By the end of this year, we aim to commission the very first unit of aquanuclear power plant, marking a
06:53historic milestone for Turkey.
06:55Distinguished participants, the relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan is a remarkable example of how strong bilateral cooperation can create a
07:04strategic value for the entire region.
07:08Our partnership, rooted in a shared history and brotherhood, has made a major contribution to European energy security.
07:15Flagship projects already mentioned, His Excellency General President Aliyev, BTC, SCP, TANAP, and the Star Refinery have transformed the regional
07:26energy architecture and demonstrated how striking balance between producer countries, transporter countries, and consumer countries can create a long-term
07:37successful energy cooperation.
07:39But our cooperation will go beyond hydrocarbons.
07:43Turkey and Azerbaijan are also strengthening cooperation on renewable energy, electricity transmission, and green energy corridors, together with our neighbors,
07:53Georgia, Bulgaria, and Southeast Europe.
07:56We are going to create the electricity version of TANAP.
08:00With its strategic location between East and West, Turkey will continue to serve as a reliable partner, an energy hub,
08:08and key facilitator for regional energy projects.
08:12As the host country of COP31 this year, Turkey remains committed to continue its constructive efforts for global energy and
08:20climate dialogue, and to advance a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
