00:00Detectives from the Metz Counterterrorism Command are currently investigating an incident that took place just after 8.30 yesterday evening
00:07in Constitution Hill in a restricted area near to Buckingham Palace where a blue Toyota Prius deliberately drove at a
00:16marked police vehicle and stopped in front of it.
00:20Uniform officers then confronted the driver of that vehicle and during that confrontation the driver reached for a four-foot
00:29sword that was in the passenger footwell.
00:32CS gas was used as part of obviously the arrest and during the struggle the individual repeatedly shouted the words
00:40Alu Akbar.
00:41The individual was quickly brought under control. He's a 26-year-old male from the Luton area and I'm glad
00:47to say he's now in custody at a central London police station.
00:50So two officers went to hospital with minor injuries to their hands, so lacerations and cuts to their hands and
00:57their forearms.
00:58The third officer also received minor injuries. All officers have now been discharged and are safe and well.
