00:00We're looking there at the wreckage of Harrison Ford's vintage plane on a golf course just a block away from
00:05a residential neighborhood, just a few seconds flying time from Santa Monica Municipal Airport. His son Ben Ford just tweeted,
00:12quote, at the hospital dad is okay, battered but okay. He's every bit the man you would think he is.
00:17He's an incredibly strong man. Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad. Mr. Ford reportedly
00:22hospitalized in fair to moderate condition. Joining us now on the phone another eyewitness, Jeff Irwin. Jeff, what did you
00:29see? What did you hear?
00:30So we were on the fifth hole and we saw the plane taking off. We heard it. We looked up.
00:36Beautiful plane with stars and stripes underneath. And then we heard the engine start to sputter and die. And just
00:43as that happened, we saw the pilot starting to turn back towards the airport. And it was clear to us
00:49that he was just gliding then and that he wasn't going to make it. We thought maybe he would land
00:54on the fairway. But we saw it. We saw the plane just assemble at the tree line from our perspective.
00:59And then we just heard a loud boom and the plane must have crashed at that point. And did you
01:06see anything after that or was that when you lost sight of it? That's when we lost sight of the
01:11aircraft. Later we saw the actual plane and it looked as though the landing gear had collapsed and it had
01:19landed flat on the ground.
01:20So he must have pulled up and then hit the trees and then just the plane just fell. But fortunately
01:27he didn't hit the street or any pedestrians or any of that. So that was good.
01:32When you saw the plane coming back, was the landing gear down? Do you remember?
01:37As I recall, the landing gear was down or still down. I don't know if on that airplane, if the
01:44landing gear actually goes up into the craft.
01:48But yeah, it was down. And we could see, it was just very obvious that this was not going to
01:54be good.
01:55So I'm super glad that he's okay, relatively speaking.
01:58Thank you.
